He is Bukharan. He lives in America, but he doesn't speak English. He speaks Russian. He is 85 years old, and had never put on Tefillin before. He is in Israel visiting his son who moved here some years ago. I asked his son why, in all these years, his father had never put on tefillin. He said, "He never believed in anything."

     I had him bless his son, read the Shema in Russian, and go to the Kotel to open his heart and pray for all the things he wanted. He kept the tefillin on for a very long time, walking all around and inside the Kotel area.

     When he finishes with this world, and goes and stands before the Righteous Judge, this day is going to come before the Judge and allow him entry to a level that he would not have been able to reach.

     That a Jew so hidden from the Torah his entire life could come to the Kotel and enjoy putting on tefillin!!! Surely the redemption is coming soon…
