In today’s world, most people live in densely-populated cities. Constructed out of steel, concrete, cement and glass, these artificial environments may be attractive to some. Unfortunately however, man-made materials emanate trace amounts of negative energies that accumulate in our bodies over time. This, combined with the ever-present pollution in the air that we breathe, the stressful and sedentary lifestyle that we lead and the chemicals that are present in our food, eventually lead to the development of various types of illnesses of the body. The claustrophobic lifestyle of the city can also induce depression, as we age and feel an increasing sense of hopelessness of living a life of utter materialism and self-indulgence. We feel helpless as we lose our health and mobility, and we inch closer towards our eventual mortality. It is no coincidence that torture is associated with bright lights, concrete and loud, raucous music while rehabilitation is associated with open spaces, blue skies, green grass and fresh air.
