Dear friends, Social Media can be a platform for the spread of love, compassion, acceptance, tolerance and human values which can benefit us all. Unfortunately there are those out there who use social media to spread hate, disharmony and attack others. I myself have been the target of such hate online for many years, especially due to my practice of Dorje Shugden which I received from my holy gurus. Even though I simply want to practice my religion in peace, I am attacked. Neither am I alone in this. There are many other Dorje Shugden practitioners, and even other people who are attacked online. But there is some good news. The European Union authorities are holding social media companies accountable for illegal or threatening content on their social media sites. This means that they will ensure that such content is not kept up, but is dealt with in a timely and effective manner when people are attacked. While this is a long time coming, it is good news for those who have to deal with the attacks and emotional distress caused by those who bully others on social media.
