What Does the Bible Say about Pandemics?

JW.org has a fresh banner article entitled What Does the Bible Say About Pandemics?

They pose the question: Has God Ever Punished People with Sickness? They then proceed to supply the answer:

The Bible reports a few occasions when God used sickness to punish people. For example, he caused some individuals to have leprosy. (Numbers 12:1-16; 2 Kings 5:20-27; 2 Chronicles 26:16-21) However, these isolated incidents were not indiscriminate pandemics that spread to innocent people. Rather, such events were specific judgments on individuals who had clearly rebelled against God.

The Bible does indeed report “a few occasions” when God punished His people with deadly diseases. Let us consider a few verses.

(Jeremiah 14:12) . . . “I am taking no pleasure in them; for by the sword and by famine and by pestilence I am bringing them to their end.”

(Jeremiah 21:5, 6) . . . “And I myself will fight against you with a stretched-out hand and with a strong arm and with anger and with rage and with great indignation. And I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast. With a great pestilence they will die.”’

(Jeremiah 21:9) . . . “The one sitting still in this city will die by the sword and by the famine and by the pestilence; but the one who is going out and who actually falls away to the Chaldeans who are laying siege against you will keep living, and his soul will certainly come to be his as a spoil.”’

(Jeremiah 24:9, 10) . . . “I will also give them over for quaking, for calamity, in all the kingdoms of the earth, for reproach and for a proverbial saying, for a taunt and for a malediction, in all the places to which I shall disperse them. And I will send against them the sword, the famine and the pestilence, until they come to their finish off the ground that I gave to them and to their forefathers.”

(Jeremiah 27:13, 14) . . . “Why should you yourself and your people die by the sword, by the famine and by the pestilence according to what Jehovah has spoken to the nation that does not serve the king of Babylon? And do not listen to the words of the prophets that are saying to you men, ‘you will not serve the king of Babylon,’ because falsehood is what they are prophesying to you.”

(Jeremiah 29:17-19) . . . “This is what Jehovah of armies has said: “Here I am sending against them the sword, the famine and the pestilence, and I will make them like the burst-open figs that cannot be eaten for badness. And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine and with the pestilence, and I will give them for a quaking to all the kingdoms of the earth…”

(Ezekiel 5:12) . . . “A third of you—by the pestilence they will die, and by famine they will come to their end in the midst of you. And another third—by the sword they will fall all around you. . .”

(Ezekiel 5:17) . . . “And I will send upon you people famine and injurious wild beasts, and they must bereave you of children, and pestilence and blood themselves will pass along through you, and a sword I shall bring in upon you. I myself, Jehovah, have spoken.’”

(Ezekiel 6:11, 12) . . . “by the sword, by the famine and by the pestilence they will fall. As for the one far away, by the pestilence he will die; and as for the one that is nearby, by the sword he will fall; and as for the one that has been left remaining and that has been safeguarded, by the famine he will die, and I will bring to its finish my rage against them.”

(Ezekiel 7:14, 15) . . . “They have blown the trumpet and there has been a preparing of everybody, but there is no one going to the battle, because my hot feeling is against all its crowd.  The sword is outside, and the pestilence and the famine are inside. Whoever is in the field, by the sword he will die, and whoever are in the city, famine and pestilence themselves will devour them. . .”

(Ezekiel 12:16) . . . “And I will leave remaining from them a few men from the sword, from the famine and from the pestilence, in order that they may recount all their detestable things among the nations to whom they must come in; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.”

(Ezekiel 14:21) . . . “For this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said, ‘So, too, [it will be] when there will be my four injurious acts of judgment—sword and famine and injurious wild beast and pestilence—that I shall actually send upon Jerusalem in order to cut off from it earthling man and domestic animal.”

Incredibly, the seers of Bethel completely ignore Jehovah’s judgments against Jerusalem with deadly plague and imply that it was only “isolated incidents” when Jehovah used sicknesses as a punishment. Anyone who is able to read can see that is not the case. God used pandemics along with the Sword of war and Famine to exterminate an entire nation of people who refused to obey Him. Either the writers at Bethel are astonishingly ignorant or they are deliberately deceiving. Since they have proven in the past that they are quite knowledgable of the contents of the Bible then it must be the latter—they are intentionally deceiving those under their influence.

Jehovah spells it out clearly. He appointed four injurious acts over the rebellious Jews. Sword, famine, plague, and wild beasts were going to bring an end to the rebels. What is more, the execution of God’s judgments by Babylon foreshadows what is to occur in the final part of the days.

The Watchtower claims that the last days began in 1914. Jehovah’s Witnesses have been deluded into believing that the seals of the symbolic scrolls containing God’s judgments were unsealed over 100 years ago. Seals 2-4 contain the exact same four injurious acts as listed in Jeremiah and Ezekiel, namely war, food shortages, and deadly plague and wild beasts. According to God’s prophetic word a quarter of mankind will be killed. That represents about 2,000,000,000 souls relative to the current world population.

Furthermore, Jesus warned members of the Thyatira congregation who were under the influence of Jezebel, saying to them: “Look! I am about to throw her into a sickbed, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. And I will kill her children with deadly plague, so that all the congregations will know that I am the one who searches the innermost thoughts and hearts, and I will give to you individually according to your deeds.” — Rev 2:22-23

As the new calendar year of 2022 is about to begin it appears that war between the nuclear powers is inevitable. Already just-in-time supply lines are strained, a lab-borne virus has been released on the world to terrify and condition the population to accept tyranny, with more bio-weapons sure to come. Inflation is making food too expensive to purchase for millions already living in poverty. War, famine and plague are ready to do their work.

Soon Jehovah will release the horsemen of the Apocalypse. The false prophets of Bethel will be humiliated. The demon’s spawn and idolators will be killed off by deadly plague during the tribulation coming upon the world. No vaccine will be able to save them. Then the congregations will know that He is Jehovah.
