Following yesterday’s news that HAFTR graduate Jacob Steinmetz became the first Orthodox Jew drafted to Major League Baseball (and the Arizona Diamondbacks), today Elie Kligman has become the second Orthodox Jew to earn the honor. Las Vegas’ power hitter and star pitcher Kligman, who recently switched to the position of catcher at Cimarron-Memorial High School, was drafted to the Washington Nationals in the 20th round of picks.
