Happy International Tarot Day 2022!

Tags: tarot

Once upon a time, in 2003, a friend of mine initiated a worldwide Tarot Day via the Internet. The next May (for they had chosen their birthday for the big day), I heard about it and joined the party. And for a long time, I participated and supported their day encouraging more people to embrace the wonders of the Tarot.

But then, a few years ago, they passed stewardship (and all legal rights) over to a Large, Very Serious Tarot enterprise that cares about things like legal rights for a day of festivities. Alas, over time, it fell into disuse.

However, while enthusiasm for that event faded, I’ve still felt like Tarot deserves its own special day of merriment and commemoration, owned by no one!

And what day could be more ideal than April 1 – All Fool’s Day?

That’s why if you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that for the past couple of years I’ve been featuring International Tarot Day on April 1 as a lighthearted day of appreciation. I’d love to see All Fool’s Day become an annual global event commemorating the magic and beauty of the cards we all know and love.

I envision this as a time when we can express our interest, our gratitude, and a celebration of the Tarot in a generous, no-strings way.

Because Tarot deserves its own day, don’t you agree?

My past couple of celebrations have been a happy success, so let’s do it again!

Going Big in 2022!

This year, several of my esteemed colleagues have very generously agreed to join the Foolery by donating prizes! So tell your friends, and get your name in the pot for some very cool goodies, including:

  • A phone reading with award winning Tarot author, symposium presenter, deck collaborator, kick-ass reader and teacher, Melissa Cynova.
    .
  • A copy of her exceptionally practical and insightful new book, “Kitchen Table Magic.

* A 3-card Zoom reading with renowned deck creator, reviewer, reader, acclaimed teacher, and beloved Southeastern Tarot Conclave Founder and Organizer, Diane Wilkes.

  • A copy of the absolutely phenomenal Tarot Birth Cards Course, from the legendary founders of The Tarot School and the annual Tarot Readers Studio, Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone.
  • And three lucky winners will receive a hand-assembled Fortune Packet from Thalassa Therese, who, for almost 25 years produced the San Francisco Bay Area Tarot Symposium (affectionately known as BATS and the oldest established, permanent floating Tarot Symposium in the world, alas, currently on hiatus). Also the founder of the Daughters of Divination (DOD), she has been living, working, and playing with the Tarot for over 50 years (she was an infant prodigy ) and keeps threatening to write books about it.

But wait! That’s not all!

From me, personally:

ONE winner will receive a Soul Card kit. Based upon the Soul Card of your Tarot birth card profile, this packet includes magical botanicals and herbs, many of which have been grown by me, and all of which are sustainably, organically grown; a crystal or stone that is in harmony with your Soul Card; a brief overview of that card’s attributes; and a blessed candle for your meditations. (Of course, you can also choose to receive someone else’s Soul Card kit, as it makes a unique and magical gift).

.

And THREE lucky winners will receive a PDF overview of their Birth Card profile. Based on your date of birth, you have a Soul card and Personality card, as well as a Shadow/Teacher card. Find out yours, and what it means. (Again, if you are already familiar with your Tarot profile, you can request one for someone else).

For both of these prizes, I’ll be in touch to get the necessary particulars.

How To Enter

Post a comment HERE on my blog (not Facebook, email, or Insta!), in the “Comment” box (alias “Luminous Sparks”) in order to be entered to WIN. If you are reading this via email, pop over and visit my website and blog!

(BTW – if you’re email only and have never actually seen my website, especially the big re-design from last Summer – this would be a lovely time to get acquainted. It’s my labor of love just for you as I combine my Tarot posts with my magical musings and my journey as a full-time writer).

Please note: Don’t freak out, this is not a race! To give everyone in every time zone a fair crack at this, the contest closes at 6am, April 2, Eastern time.

Only one entry per person will be counted and names will be pulled and matched with prizes TOTALLY at random!

As in past years, my handsome assistant and Laurel Hill Cottage’s intrepid photographer, John, will magically select the recipients from all who have entered.

Winners will be announced Sunday, April 3.

IMPORTANT:

* To enter, I will need your preferred full name, and your email address:

Please include your email WITHIN THE COMMENT BOX ITSELF, using this format:

YourPreferredEmailName and then write out the words, “the at symbol” and then YourEmailServer and then write out “dot com” or “dot edu” or whatever it is.

So, for instance, if I was entering, I would type my comment and then add:

bethowlsdaughter (the at symbol) owlsdaughter (dot com).

This is to prevent weird spammy, bot harvesting thingies from scooping up your data.

* Because international postal rates have gone completely bonkers, I am desperately sorry, but I just cannot afford to ship outside of the U.S. (Keep in mind, however, that there are several prizes that do not entail shipping, so please do join in anyway!).

I hate being hampered this way, though. Especially since I intend for this to be international. So —

If you are a Tarot professional, especially those of you outside the U.S., I encourage you to offer your own Tarot Day contributions and celebrations in whatever capacity you use to reach your peeps! The idea is to spread the joy, particularly if I am not able to. And if you’d like access to some of my artwork, etc. just ask!

Most importantly: Please make sure that your contact info is coherent enough for me to get in touch with you.

But Wait! There’s Even More Fun and Tarot Geekery!

Please visit my Facebook page and post photos of your favorite decks, or Fool cards, or even spreads. Bonus points for Tarot-related selfies!

No prizes there, other than our undying likes, especially because not everyone is on Facebook.

This is for the pure fun of sharing and discussing our love for the Tarot. So pop over to my page, and let’s party!

And Once Again – A Special Shout-Out to My Tarot Reader Friends

I hope you, most especially, will join me in this year’s celebration.

Please DO share and support this day that is strictly for the pleasure and passion of our cards. If you care to offer gifts and other goodies for your clients, students, colleagues, and fans, I really hope you will! Let this be a perfect opportunity to do so.

But please: my intention for this day is gratitude and mirth, not marketing or money. In the spirit of The Fool, let us keep this a no-strings, non-commercial, purely charitable observance.

Cool? Thanks!

Let’s Do This, Y’all!

Please share far and wide with your friends, and let’s make the 2020s the Decade of Tarot together.

Happy International Tarot Day, 2022!
