Tarot Card of the Week, May 31-June 5, 2021: The Ace of Pentacles Returns

Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life.
Rumi

Having just visited us week before last, as if bookending last week’s hello from The Fool, we have a return visit from the Ace of Pentacles.

For a more in-depth assessment of the symbolism and imagery in the Waite-Smith Ace, you can pop back here.

But to summarize for this week, the Ace of Pentacles presents great possibilities, in the area of prosperity, abundance, trust, security, and groundedness. In readings, it shows that a seed of productivity has been planted in your life although you may not yet recognize it.

When the seed sprouts, it could take almost any form. It might be a feeling of centeredness, desire for results or need to focus on practical matters. In addition, it could indicate an offer, gift, opportunity, encounter or synchronistic event.

The Stars Reflecting the Circled Star

I love that, for this first full week of Mercury’s Retrograde, we are receiving a RE-run visit from a recent card of the week. Clearly, there is something tremendously vital going on, as Aces are second only to the Major Arcana in the breadth and depth of their messages for us.

Thus, it appears that the multiverse is asking us to RE-view this card’s meaning, and how we apply its gifts in our lives.

The ever-brilliant Robert Wilkinson offers an astrological overview of June, 2021, and it appears that much of the early part of the month aligns with our Ace of Pentacles’ message.

This year the month of June begins with a Mercury Retrograde review of all things Gemini! This retrograde will find us “pruning and shaping” our expression, getting a new look and new understanding of the last half of Gemini and our response to that part of our chart as prelude to a transformation of “life into mind” after Mercury goes direct in late June…

Mercury, “the Guide of Souls,” when retrograde, indicates a great time for taking a new look at recent developments, with an eye to a different perspective which can round out our view and opinion of any given thing.

As I offered last month, Saturn has also just begun its retrograde period on a degree which offers us techniques of direct accomplishment and the ability to accelerate the evolutionary potential once we have a vision, a plan, and a good time to execute the procedure…

… 2020 was momentous because it began a new 20 year Aquarian Era, launched as a long term wave form at the Grand Mutation last December. That Jupiter conjunction with Saturn also set a new 200 year Era into motion, moving global energies out of Earth and into Air.

That implies we’re moving out of the materialism of the past 200 years, and have entered two centuries of the qualities of Air, with the associated qualities of relatedness, receptivity, versatility, movability, lightness, and cooperative ideas, visions, and ideals.

[In addition to Robert’s own explanation of Mercury retrograde, my cohort and co-conspirator Elisabeth Grace also offers a timely and user-friendly Mercury retrograde survival guide. – Beth]

What might the Ace of Pentacles represent in a post-materialist culture?

As this tremendous Era change begins to gain momentum, it would appear this retrograde period and the current eclipse midpoint offer an opportunity to open and change our minds: about what well-being really means, about how much is enough, about how to flourish within a sustainable, mindful paradigm.

For instance, how has the pandemic changed forever our post WWII, militaristic model of hierarchical “chain of command” workplaces?

And how do we give and receive material support in a fair, balanced, and healthful way?

It’s time. It’s really time.

Pruning and Shaping

In addition, it seems like this week’s encore is a cue that it is time for me to confide some of the changes in my own practice that you are going to be seeing in the next month or two.

As you may know, I started my love affair with the Tarot in 1972 (and you’d better believe I will be celebrating my 50th anniversary with you next year!). But my career path remained much more conventional — primarily in human resources management and then information technology.

Until 20 years ago, when I was called to make the Tarot my full-time occupation.

My website, first at Well.com, then Blogger, and finally here, became, not only my professional services point of contact, but a gift to my readers, interweaving a kaleidoscope of magical topics with my faithful Tarot Card of the Week.

For some time, I have been contemplating the next chapter in my life, as one does in their late 60s, after multiple potentially fatal cancer encounters. While I was imagining a slower, more gradual transition, recent circumstances that I am certain are manifestations of my current Pluto transits have urged me otherwise.

So, to echo the portrayal of this being a time for “pruning and shaping our expression” in the world, I am indeed finding myself within the process of dramatic transformation.

New Job, New Website

If you are a visitor to my actual website (rather than only reading my emails), you may have noticed that many of my pages and older posts are already different, with images removed, and otherwise changed. This will continue.

My past writing will remain intact, but the location and way it is presented are being redesigned.

By the end of July, possibly sooner, I will have archived the nearly 3,300 posts, and additional articles and essays that are all currently located at owlsdaughter.com.  When that happens, many will still be available for you to read, but not all (I will explain why at a later date).

What remains will be pared down to a more condensed format, and will be kept at a different URL.

The new creation at my owlsdaughter.com address will reflect my new undertaking:

At long last, I am writing the Tarot books I’ve yearned to share with you.

I am excited (yes, and nervous) about this huge leap. The stars seem to have finally aligned, and the Guidance has been very clear that now is the time.

Like a chrysalis, my next chapter of enchantment and illumination is beginning to stir and there will be more announcements and metamorphosis in the weeks ahead.

Meanwhile, the hand of Divine Grace emerges from the cloud and blesses the garden anew.

I look forward to our next journeys together, my dear friends, visitors, and magical companions.

In vast, boundless gratitude,
Beth
