Suddenly I have seen you well dressed, clean face and freshly combed, having a good breakfast. Then you grabbed your handbag full of colourful books and notebooks. You have taken the path of the school where you study in a classroom with only 30 students. Teachers treated you kindly and firmly at the same time, without insults, with no beating. At midday you had a plate of rice with vegetables and meat. After class time you played football or cricket with your friends and you went back home, helped your mom fetching firewood, took a bath and did your homework sitting at the dining table under an electric light. Later in the evening you had supper and a glass of milk before going to bed; an individual bed with mosquito net on it. And suddenly I woke up and I saw you in a situation in which nothing was like in my Dream except for the play with your friends and the firewood fetching. “Insh Allah” my dream becomes real one day. “Insh Allah” my dream and your dreams and your parents’ dreams become real. “Insh Allah” people reading this have the same dream and help to make it real for you and your many mates. “Insh Allah”, which means “God willing”

De repente te he visto bien vestido, con la cara lavada y recién peinado, tomándote un buen desayuno. Luego, has cogido tu mochila nueva llena de libros y cuadernos de colores. Has tomado el camino de la escuela, en la que estudias en una clase con sólo 30 alumnos. Los profesores te han tratado con cariño y con firmeza al mismo tiempo, sin insultarte ni pegarte. A mitad de la jornada has comido un buen plato de arroz con verduras y carne. Tras las clases de la tarde, has jugado al fútbol o al cricket con tus amigos y después has vuelto a casa, has ayudado a tu madre trayendo leña, te has lavado, y has hecho los deberes para mañana a la luz eléctrica de una lámpara, sentado a la mesa del comedor. Cuando ya era de noche, has cenado y te has tomado un vaso de leche antes de irte a tu cama individual y con mosquitero. Y de repente me he despertado y te he visto en una situación en la que nada era como en mi sueño excepto el juego con tus amigos y el trabajo para traer la leña. Ojalá mi sueño se convierta en realidad un día no muy lejano. Ojalá mi sueño y tu sueño y el sueño de tus padres coincidan. Ojalá mucha gente que lee esto y que no te conoce tenga el mismo sueño y se anime a hacerlo real para ti y para tantos de tus compañeros. “Ojalá”, que significa “Insh Allah”, que significa “Dios lo quiera”.
