It is No Secret :: By Dennis Huebshman

Stuart Hamblen wrote several songs in the 1940’s and 1950’s, and one of my favorites is “It Is No Secret What God Can Do.” Hamblen was from Kellyville, Texas, and also wrote “This Ole House.” Both songs were recorded by various artists. Jim Reeves and Elvis Presley both recorded “It Is No Secret,” but my favorite version was performed by George Beverly Shea. He sang this and numerous other old standards at Billy Graham Crusades all over the world. All the versions above can be heard on you-tube.
Today, the antichrists and false prophets are doing all they can to take anything that is Christian out of a world that is in real need for revival. Sad part, they are gaining ground, which is what our Savior said would happen in the last days of this era (Matthew 24; Mark 13 and Luke 21).
In 1 John 4:1-6, we are told that there would be many antichrists that will be here before the final evil one appears. We are seeing their increased activity all over the globe; however, we do not need to lose heart because of this. We should be encouraged that prophecy is being fulfilled exactly as the Bible tells us it will. This also shows we are nearing an event given in 1 Thessalonians 4 and 1 Corinthians 15 as being close to fulfillment. (emphasis mine)
In the “twinkling/blinking of an eye,” with the sound of the “Trumpet of God” and a “shout with the voice of an Archangel,” we are ever closer to being taken up to meet Jesus in the air. All who will have asked Jesus to be their Savior will be taken up – Raptured – to be with Him and avoid the terrible 7-year wrath that is also drawing near. Not believing in the Rapture will not change the outcome. Not believing in God does not make Him fictional.
“It Is No Secret What God Can Do” is a song of hope, and evidence that our God is always there for us. One interesting point about the author and how the song came about: Hamblen was one of radio’s first “singing cowboys,” and early on lived a very destructive lifestyle. In 1949, Billy Graham invited Hamblen to a Los Angeles Crusade where Hamblin dedicated his remaining life to Jesus.
Word got around Hollywood about his conversion, and one friend asked if the rumor of his accepting Jesus was true. Hamblen replied that “it was no secret what God had done for him.” The friend told Hamblen that he should turn that line into a song, which he did. The Friend? John Wayne. The Song? The first to reach #1 on Gospel, Country and Pop Charts. The Lyrics:
(1) The chimes of time ring out the news, another day is through. Someone slipped and fell; was that someone you? You may have longed for added strength, your courage to renew; do not be disheartened; I have news for you.
(chorus) It is no secret what God can do. What He’s done for others, He’ll do for you. With arms wide open, He’ll pardon you. It is no secret what God can do.
(2) There is no night, for in His lightyou’ll never walk alone. You’ll always feel at home wherever you may roam. There is no power can conquer you while God is on your side. Take Him at His promise; don’t run away and hide. (chorus)
We have numerous promises made to us by the Father which this song expresses. First and foremost, we must believe God is able to fulfill all His promises as He is unable to lie (Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 6:18 and Titus 1:2).
We need to understand that our Heavenly Father is Omnipotent (All Powerful), and nothing is impossible for Him (Jeremiah 32:27; Matthew 19:26; Mark 10:27 and Luke 1:37). We are bound by human weaknesses that our Creator is not. He is everywhere at the same time (Omnipresent), as well as all-knowing (Omniscient).
When the line says, “You’ll never walk alone,” God made the same promise through Moses (Deuteronomy 31:6); through Jesus (Matthew 28:20); and by the writer of Hebrews (Hebrews 13:5). His love for us is so great that He sent a part of Himself to come here and provide a way that we can be forgiven of all our sins, and be with Him forever (John 3:16 and Romans 5:8). He is patient toward us and wants no one to fail, but to have the opportunity to repent and call out to be saved (2 Peter 3:9; Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:9-13).
Even though we repent, confess our sins, and ask Jesus into our lives, God knows we will still fall short and sin (Romans 3:23). He has provided a path to forgiveness in 1 John 1:8-10; 2:1-2. Our God is pure light, and there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5-7).
He has given us an instruction manual called the Bible. The first 39 books of the Bible are about the creation of the earth, and all the events leading up to a coming Messiah – Deliverer or Savior. There are also prophecies about end-time events that will happen before the end of this current age. Most of those prophecies have already been fulfilled.
When Jesus came to this earth, He fulfilled well over 100 prophecies before leaving to go back to Heaven. The possibility of anyone but Him being the Messiah is almost numerically impossible to figure. The prophecies in the 27 books that start with His birth and go through the Millennial reign after His physical return to earth are just about complete. The main ones remaining are the taking up of the Believers (Rapture) and the 7-year Tribulation.
When Israel once again became a sovereign nation on May 14, 1948, the final countdown began. No other nation on earth has ever been totally disbursed, and then reformed after a period of over 2,000 years. Not only did they come back as a nation, but they have survived numerous all-out attacks against her, and yet be one of the most prosperous in the world today. It’s exactly as the Bible said it would be in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah and other books that were written long before the first arrival of the Savior. The “hook” is being set today just as Ezekiel 38:4 said it would be, and the coalition that will come against Israel has formed for the first time in history.
Satan-followers are increasing in number as more and more people fall for his lies. Again, this is nothing that surprises our Heavenly Father, and was spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 7:13-14 – the “straight and narrow vs. the broad path.”
All the information about end-of-the-age events is available, and is no secret. Those who choose not to believe are being allowed to make their own free-will choice, and will even be given a “deluding influence” to let them believe what is false (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12). These are the ones that God knows have accepted Satan, and will not repent.
For everyone who seeks an eternal home with Jesus, we may face persecutions in this world, but can be assured of eternal peace through Jesus because He overcame the world at Calvary (John 16:33). It is no secret, but the gift will be given only to those who truly accept Jesus as their Savior. We are the ones that long for His call, and know we don’t belong here, as Buddy Greene’s song so aptly puts it.
We are the ones saying all day long every day – Maranatha – Come Lord Jesus!
Shalom B’ahava – (Peace with Love)!
