Most people think, the dispute is about whether Taiwan is another country.

The fact is that Taiwanese Government claims to be the legitimate government of all of China.

This is why UN or USA never accepts Taiwan as another country. They all want One China governed by the government of Taiwan.

CCP wants us to think Taiwan is just another province which wants to be independent.

Notice how USA still today re-iterates One China Policy. The only way to explain US sending weapons to Taiwan, is that they want to replace CCP with Taiwanese government. This was the original reason Taiwan was formed anyway.
