God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
October, 2017
Mark 12:26,27 - And regarding the dead rising, have you not read about the burning bush in the book of Moses, how God told him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” You are badly mistaken!
God isn't merely He who was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and who will be again their God. Jesus says that God is - present tense - the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Since, you can't, strictly, speaking, be the God of anyone who doesn't exist, this indicates that, though, dead, they exist (are alive) in some sense. They don't have bodies, so they must be something more than just their bodies, like a soul or something.

[1.20.2018] P.S. Is this the only plausible interpretation of this passage? Taking this passage by itself, no. But in the larger context of Scripture and the circumstances that Christ spoke this in it is the best, I think.

We've talked about this before, David. What do you think?
