Chapter 1 Blessing and rewards
- Blessed are the poor in spirit: they shall obtain is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are they that mourn: they shall obtain comfort.
- Blessed are the meek: they shall obtain the earth.
- Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: they shall obtain fulfilment.
- Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart: they shall obtain the sight of God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers: they shall obtain God as their father.
- Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: they shall obtain the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
- Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor practise the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful: they obtain heavenly fruit and shall prosper.
- Blessed are ye that weep now: they shall obtain laugher
- But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your reward.
- Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger.
- Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
- Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets
