Getting down Our Knees to Serve

John 13:4‭-‬5 TPT
4 So he got up from the meal and took off his outer robe, and took a towel and wrapped it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ dirty feet and dry them with his towel.

John 13:17 TPT
So now put into practice what I have done for you, and you will experience a life of happiness enriched with untold blessings!”

Jesus is our wonderful Savior. He is our King of kings and the Lord of lords. Yet he humbled and lowered himself again and again to demonstrate his love for us.

One great example is shown in John 13:1-17. Although Jesus walked in great authority and power, he did not mind going down his knees to wash his disciples' feet.

When we walk, our feet will become dirty. This is true in the physical but also a reflection of our walk with God. Jesus was demonstrating that he came to cleanse our life from all filthiness. As we allow Jesus to cleanse us, then we can become part of him.

Jesus is also demonstrating the mark of greatness through humility and servanthood. He expected that as he washed their feet, the disciples should do it for one another.

As disciples of Jesus, we should walk in humility and be willing to get down on our knees to Serve. There should never be a job too lowly for us to do when it comes to serving God and His people.

And there should never be people who are too "unclean" (too "sinful" unworthy,) that we cannot touch them and love them. In fact, Jesus has sent us to reach out to them and share the gospel with them so that they can be cleaned by His blood and His Word.

Let us remember this day and be thankful to Jesus of his great love for us, demonstrated through his humility to serve us. And let us obey his words to follow his example and begin to get down on our knees to serve one another.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for loving me, serving me and cleansing my feet that I can be a part of You. I will also commit to be humble and serve God and people. As I do that, I will experience a lifetime of Your joy and blessings. Amen.

With love & blessings,
Hazel Ashley
