Don’t Abort the Mission

Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.” Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to Speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.”
—Luke 1:18-20 NLT

Does God have a good plan for everybody’s life? The answer to that question is a resounding ‘yes.’ Will the purpose and plan God has for everybody’s life be fulfilled within this lifetime? Unfortunately, the answer to this question is, disappointingly, ‘no.’ Let us live every day—and make every decision—considering whether the choices we are making will take us to the highest path God intends us to travel. Are you in alignment with the perfect will of God? What are you doing with God’s promises? Do you believe them? Do you align yourself with them? Do you speak in accordance to what God has said?

In the Bible, John the Baptist was an integral component to the execution of God’s plan. He was intended to be a forerunner of Jesus, almost to prepare the people’s expectations for the great(er) One who was coming. John the Baptist’s existence and purpose had been prophesied of long before his time but, when time came for him to be born, his father did not believe it was even possible. As a result, the angel of the Lord closed his father’s mouth so he would not be able to speak against and abort the mission of John the Baptist’s birth. The Bible later says that his father was unable to speak until after he was seen being in alignment with God’s purpose for John the Baptist. This story is a testament that a person’s unbelief should be prevented from aborting God’s plan for their life (and even the lives of others).

Make a concerted effort to always silence the literal and metaphorical voices of doubt and unbelief contrary to the promises of God in your heart. Ask God to place you in alignment with his high(est) calling. There is a story in the Bible of a man who was told by Jesus that “anything is possible if a person believes.” When the man realized that the outcome he was hoping for was contingent on his own confidence, he instantly said to Jesus, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” While God’s thoughts and plans towards us are always good, it is still our responsibility to acknowledge our unbelief. This way, we can address it and properly prevent it from aborting God’s intended goodness. Therefore, let us watch our words, watch our surroundings, and monitor the systems of what we are choosing to believe. Let it be your mission to create healthy environments for God’s highest plans to be executed in the earth.

Lots of Love, XO
