And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.

If you keep doing things at the level you always do them on, you will always get what you have already gotten. So, basically, what I am trying to say is, why not think bigger? Before any good or evil manifests through our actions, they start off as ideas, thoughts, or just plain old feelings. Jesus says in Luke 6:45, “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” Our thoughts become our words and our words eventually determine the course of what our life produces.
Last night, while I was writing, I had a thought that I personally need to start thinking even bigger. Every once in a while, just when I think I am already “thinking big,” I always get these random ideas that I am sitting right at the precipice of greater things and I need to think bigger in order to reach them. A person typically cannot produce greater than what they can believe is possible. When you look around you, observing all the things you have produced in life, know that those things are reflections of the quality of your past thought patterns.
How can a person upgrade the level of what their life produces? It is what comes from inside of you that has the power to defile you. However, what comes from inside of you also has the power to launch you to greater heights. When you delight yourself in carnal things, the desires of your heart will remain carnal. But when you delight yourself in the Lord, God Himself will grant you the desires of your heart. That is because your desires will no longer produce things that defile you. A relationship with God will build you up and empower you to do great and excellent things that are reflections of His goodness. Monitor your thoughts today. If your thoughts are not reflections of your hopes and dreams, it might be high time for you to make some necessary adjustments. Challenge yourself to take steps that help your mind get accustomed to the idea of producing greater things.
