EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

What are the shreds of evidence that show one has been filled with the Holy Ghost? Is there anything that one can see and say of a truth I’m baptized with the Holy Spirit? That is what we will be addressing in this post. Join us as we explore the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Let’s pray

Almighty Father that dwells in the Light unapproachable, we pray for the release of your light of your understanding into our hearts through your word today. Instruct our hearts to know when we are filled with your Spirit so we can boldly walk in that awareness to your glory in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

WHAT ARE THE EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY GHOST

When one is baptized with the Holy Spirit, there are things that he will experience in his life to know that he is baptized with the Holy Ghost. Speaking in tongues is the most conspicuous evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This proof of the presence of the Holy Ghost is so prominent that one who doesn’t speak in tongues is considered not to be baptized with the Holy Ghost by many.

However, one can be baptized with the Holy Ghost and not speak in tongues. Tongues are one of the physical manifestations of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Most of the manifestations of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian are spiritual.

Some of the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is:

1.   HE TESTIFIES OF JESUS CHRIST.

But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 15:26 (KJV)

When one is filled with the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost in the person bears witness of the Lordship of Jesus Christ in the life of the individual. He testifies of the new life of Christ that is in us which we got at salvation.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Romans 8:15-16 (KJV)

The Holy Spirit bears witness with our own spirit that we are children of God. We may not fill like children of God.

The Children of God don’t walk by sight or feeling. We walk by the knowledge which the Holy Spirit infused into our own spirit. Many people have lost their faith because they based their salvation of their feelings and experiences than the witness of the Holy Spirit.

That will not be you in the name of Jesus.

The Holy Ghost reassures of our salvation even when we don’t feel saved. There are many Christians who are not sure they are born again. There are parameters that assure us of our salvation.

I was not sure of mine salvation for many years until the day God personally told me I am born again and informed me to leave that point and start growing. From that very day, I have never doubted my salvation for once. I’m not afraid of hell because I’m already in heaven through salvation.

You need this kind of assurance. It’s only the Holy Spirit that can give it to you.
The baptism of the Holy Ghost is a must for everyone who calls himself a Christian.

2.   WE HAVE BOLDNESS TO WITNESS CHRIST TO OTHERS.

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:13 (KJV)

Boldness though an intangible thing can be seen. The bible says when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and knew they were uneducated and ignorant men, they were amazed.

The boldness of Peter and John amazed the people. But where did they acquire this kind of boldness that could throw people into a state of astonishment since they were unschooled and ignorant fishermen (Luke 5:1-11).

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

Acts 4:8 (KJV)

The boldness of Peter to stand for Christ against the people of the city came from the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This same Peter who denied Jesus thrice stood up before the city to witness Christ (Matthew 26:69-75).

Peter didn’t say anything before the people until he was filled with the Holy Ghost. In fact, Jesus has warned them not to leave Jerusalem until there are filled with the Holy Ghost.

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 1:4-5 (KJV)

Jesus commanded his disciples not to leave Jerusalem the reason notwithstanding until there are filled with the Holy Ghost in other to have the required boldness to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (KJV)

The power of the Holy Ghost is primarily for the witness of Christ to every creature.

When we are filled with the Holy Ghost, we receive Gods kind of boldness to preach the word of the kingdom.

3.   OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORD OF GOD IS ENLIGHTENED.

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.

Ephesians 1:17-18 (KJV)

The spirit of wisdom and revelation is the Holy Ghost as we can see in the book of Isaiah 11:1-2;

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

What does he do in our life? He enlightens our understanding in the knowledge of God and the inheritance of our calling in God. He opens our understanding into the mystery of the word of God.

The Holy Ghost is the most qualified person to explain the word of God to us because He is the one through whom the word was given to those who wrote it.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

As the person who inspired those who wrote it, he is in a better position to unveil it to us. The revelation of the word of the God is vital to the sustenance of a believer. A believer who doesn’t have a revelation of the word of God can’t remain a Christian for long.

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

2 Corinthians 3:6 (KJV)

The letters of the word kill but the spirit hidden in those letters is what gives life to our spirit. It’s only the Spirit of God that has the capacity to reveal the spirit of God hidden behind the letters of the scriptures.

Until we are filled with the Holy Spirit, the study of the word of God is like studying any other text. But when we study the word of God through the eyes of the Holy Spirit, we begin to see things the way God himself does.

No man see what God see and act the way God would have acted that will not see the kind of result God sees.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost, lead to the revelation of the deep things of God from the scriptures.

4.   WE HEAR GOD

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

John 16:13 (KJV)

It is through the Spirit of God that God speaks to us. The Holy Ghost is the convener of the word of God to us.

Without the Holy Spirit, God will be speaking but we will not hear Him. With the Holy Spirit in us, every word God release in our direction is easily picked up by our Spirit.

I remembered the first day I heard God speak to me. It was so audible that I thought those around me heard it. I opened my eyes to see if other heard what God told me because we were in a fellowship. But none heard it.

The voice was crystal clear amid the noisy worship atmosphere I was in. It was much later I came to understand that God actually spoke to my spirit and not my physical ears as I thought.

God had been speaking to me for a long time before I actually spoke in tongues.
The baptism of the Holy Ghost makes hearing from God easy and simple. There are people who are confused if what they heard came from God, themselves or the devil.

When you are filled with the Holy Ghost doubt of who is speaking with you would disappear.

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

John 10:4-5 (KJV)

When you are filled with the Holy Ghost, you not only hear God but you can easily differentiate the voice of God from other voices seeking your attention.

5.   WE SPEAK IN TONGUES

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:4 (KJV)

When the Apostles received the Holy Ghost many shreds of evidence were recorded of which speaking in other tongues was one.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is always accompanied with an utterance. You can’t be filled with the Holy Ghost and He will not give you utterance to speak in other tongues.

The Holy Ghost doesn’t compel you to speak in tongues. This was one of the reasons why it took me a long time to speak in tongues. I was expecting the Holy Ghost to force my mouth open and tongues will be pouring out.

It doesn’t work that way. What the Holy Ghost do is to give you utterance. It’s your responsibility to speak those utterances he gave you out. If you don’t speak out the utterance He gives you, you will never speak in tongues.

God willing, we will speak on soonest: WHY YOU DON’T SPEAK IN TONGUES AFTER HOLY GHOST BAPTISM.

One who is not saved or born again can’t be filled with the Holy Ghost. New birth is the first requirement for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. If you aren’t born again, you can’t be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

If you wish to be saved, say the following prayer of salvation with me from the depth of your heart with all sincerity.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

Oh Lord God, I believe with my entire hearth in your son Jesus Christ. I believe He died for me and You raised Him from the dead. I believe He is alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from today. Through Him and in His name I have eternal life.

I am born again. Thank you, Lord. I am now a child of God. Praise God!
