This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16
Reigning over the flesh requires one to walk in the spirit. Paul says if you don’t want to fulfill the lust (desires) of the flesh you must walk in the spirit.
However, for you to walk in the spirit, you must be in the spirit.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25
Living in the Spirit is the first step to walking in the Spirit. If you aren’t in the Spirit, you can’t walk in the Spirit.
Can a child who is not yet Born to be walking around? Is not possible. One had to be given birth to before he can engage in any activity.
What does it mean to be in the Spirit?
To be in the Spirit means to be born in the Spirit. For you to be born in the Spirit, you must be born of the Spirit. When the Spirit gives birth to you, it does that in the Spirit. It also deposits all the feature of the Spirit which you need to live well in the Spirit into you at your birth. When you are born of the Spirit, you become a spirit at a birth.
Like gives birth to like.
Being a Spirit is inevitable if you must live in the Spirit.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:6
The book of John 4:24 make us to understand that God is a Spirit. When you are born of God (But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. – John 1:12-13), you become born of the Spirit.
To be born of the Spirit means to be born again.
How to walk in the Spirit.
…It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
John 6:63
Walking in the Spirit means living in line with the instructions of the word of God. The word of God is the expression of the Spirit. God communicate Spiritual things to us through His word. Walking in line with the dictates of the instructions of Scriptures is walking in the Spirit.
Beside the word of God being an expression of the Spirit, it is also a carrier of the life of the Spirit. Walking in the word of God impart the life of God into us. Walking according to the directives of the word of God keeps us spiritually alive and sound.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
John 15:4
When we follow the instructions of the word of God, the word begin to manifest itself through us and in us.
One who is not born again cannot live in the Spirit because it take being in the Spirit to live in the spirit. If you are not born again, we invite you to become a child of God and live in the Spirit by making the prayer below verbally with all sincerity of heart.
Prayer of salvation
Oh Lord God, I believe with my entire hearth in your son Jesus Christ. I believe He died for me and You raised Him from the dead. I believe He is alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from today. Through Him and in His name I have eternal life.
I am born again. Thank you Lord. I am now a child of God. Praise God!
