Mystery In The Stars-Part 1

Tags: lord hath earth

When I was a young girl I used to sit underneath the stars and stare at them in awe, wondering what they were all about. Their brilliance, immeasurable number, and vast distance made me feel quite small in comparison, yet I was mesmerized by their mysterious beauty.

Looking way up into that dark expanse, adorned with a myriad of lights, it can be easy to imagine the human race is an insignificant people with no purpose or reason for our existence. I dare say every single person has struggled with these thoughts and feelings at some point in their lives.

Here is a quote by atheist and professor Richard Dawkins, “The universe we observe has … no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference." And this is a man who claims to believe in fact and reason. Remember what the Bible says about atheists?

Psalm 14:1-The fool Hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

What about agnostics?  They believe that if there is a
God he is probably unknowable. One step up, you might say, from an atheist. At least they suggest the possibility of the existence of God. And yet to them He will always be a mystery-past finding out. In the Bible passage below Paul addresses those who believe in the 'unknown' god:
Act 17:23-28  For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.
  God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
  Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
  And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Isaiah 45:18-19  For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
  I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Through the Holy Bible, God reveals himself as the Creator of the Universe. After this mystery is revealed to us, our perspective of ourselves, and the world around us, changes exponentially. We begin to see each other in the light of God's love and truth. Through this great revelation we are able to see the reality of life more clearly.

A short time after I discovered Jesus Christ as my Savior, Lord and God, I raised my eyes up to the glorious night sky and what I saw was amazing beyond explanation. With my limited earthly vocabulary, I can only say that I saw my past, present, and future through the eyes of my heavenly Father. I knew my origin and purpose and destiny. You see- His story is my story. What about you? Find yourself in the Greatest Story Ever Told! Read His Word and believe.
