MAKING A DIFFERENCE - EPISODE 2

Yet again, the word ‘certain’ was (is) used to describe the quality of this woman’s personality. This woman was damn broke; she was in for a hard time, none of her family members were willing to help her out of her economic downturn. Her husband died a debtor and no one was willing to give her a bail out.

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”

So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”

Then he said, “Go, borrow Vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”

So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”
And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”

2 Kings 4:1-7(NKJV)

The worrying part of this woman’s story was the part where her creditors threatened to take her sons from her. Her sons were set to be used as exchange for the deal. She had limited time and the more she panicked, the more daunting the task of paying back a debt she probably had no clue of. In her worrying and fretful state, she remembered she has one important personality in her life that is too big to ignore.

See, there is nobody who doesn’t have somebody in their life. What you need to do when you are in a tight situation is to look out for that one person who will be able to inspire you with the right answer towards solving that challenge. This (these) person(s) may not give you tangible goods or cash or something but their counsel, if adequately utilized might just be the game changer for you.

You really need to Identify the problem that confronts you before making an attempt to solving it. The woman was able to identify her problem (she was in debt and her creditors’ beckons) and the person with the solution to her problem was revealed to her.

The interesting part of this woman’s life was that she did as she was told. Acting diligently to the instructions of the prophet in her life improved her status significantly. She had no time to ask questions and in the end, she reaped the dividends.

As believers, it is important for us to have certain person(s) of great importance and influence in our life. Most times, what these persons ask you to do might just not make sense at all but when you eventually decide to do as you are told, the result will be massive.

Just because she did as she was told, her name became a reference point for us as believers. She moved from a state of little to plenty. See, it is not what you don’t have that is the problem; it is what you have but don’t know you have that is the problem. She had a pot of oil which she communizes, but her ability to identify the one person with the key to her miracles was the beginning of better things for her. That person was able to use what she has to allow a flow of plenty.

If you must make a difference, be able to identify the problem that challenges you by asking yourself the right question, then your eyes will be opened to the solutions and ways of using the solution will also be revealed to you. Apart from this, apply yourself to instructions, start doing as you are told and see God move supernaturally in your life
