Adolf Hitler's cutlery for sale

Please be warned that if you are prepared to buy Adolf Hitler's cutlery, you must similarly be prepared to live with the fact that they also have the Nazi eagle and swastika etched on to them. Moreover, the knives, forks and spoons, will set you back as much as £1,400 and come engraved with his initials ‘A’ and 'H'.

Another snag is that you may also have to reconcile yourself to the fact that Hitler may have actually used the cutlery himself.

History has it that the items formed part of a special release to commemorate the tyrant's 50th birthday in April 1939.

The cutlery was found in a house clearance in Dorset. It was thought to have been
acquired by a British soldier who lived in the home.

Auctioneer Richard Bromell said:
‘The cutlery was found at the deceased estate of the retired senior military officer.

‘It was kept in a draw in his study, not on display, and the cutlery appears to have been
used very rarely if at all.

‘The cutlery as you would expect is of high quality and made for formal occasions like
banquets.

‘He was stationed in Germany in the post-war years so he could have brought the cutlery back then but unfortunately we don’t know that for certain.’
