A “disturbed” research assistant in central Turkey has shot dead four university staff
The attacker was named as 37-year-old Volkan Bayar. He was described by staff and students at Eskisehir Osmangazi University of having being of unsound mind in recent weeks. Bayar went about accusing staff of links to the Gulenists, the group that President Erdogan claims launched the coup attempt in July 2016.

He had opened fire with a handgun in classrooms on the second floor of a building on the university campus at about 3pm local time yesterday.
The victims have been named as the deputy dean Mikail Yalcın, Fatih Ozmutlu, a faculty secretary, Yasir Armagan, a research assistant, and Serdar Kalak, a lecturer, all of whom the gunman appeared to have targeted specifically.
The attacker was detained after initially trying to flee the scene, the Dogan news agency said. He was caught and taken into custody.
