Willingly Serve

Are you the type of person who drags their feet very dramatically when when it comes to providing aid for those who need it? Maybe you are one of those people that will hold things over someone's head when you give them help and support, not really doing it out of love, but to get something in return later in the future. That's not really what we should be doing in terms of giving in a full, Loving and self-sacrificing manner. God calls us to be people who are loving and self-sacrificing, disciples for the world. Jesus is the example set for us to follow, to give everything we can, to the point of taking the nails on the cross, Where have you been sacrificial lately? Do you actively try to help those who need it just for the sake of helping them?
Today's Gospel states: '"Will any one of you, who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep, say to him when he has come in from the field, `Come at once and sit down at table'? Will he not rather say to him, `Prepare supper for me, and gird yourself and Serve me, till I eat and drink; and afterward you shall eat and drink'? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that is commanded you, say, `We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty"' (Luke 17:7-10).
Today's reading talks about how we need to be willing and loving servants. This means that we give of our time, money, energy and everything we can to be outwards signs of our inward faith, people of love for the world. Consider ways that you can be self-sacrificial in your daily life. It could be helping out a charity, volunteering at your church, giving time to a friend who needs to talk, even taking time to offer a prayer for someone who really needs it. Take some time today to pray and ask God to help you follow Jesus' example of being sacrificial for others.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for showing me what it means to be loving and sacrificial. Help em to let go of myself and b loving and giving to others.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
