Try, Try Again

Have you ever made an attempt at a new hobby and been extremely bad, failing at the first try? Usually if it has anything to do with being coordinated for me, I fall flat on my face and fail. Some people are successful right off the bat, but that usually comes after hard work and practice. Getting back on track living a good Spiritual life takes time and effort too, just as a hobby would. Think about it, if you haven't been consistently praying before bed, it would be hard to start a routine and follow through right away. We all have areas that we can improve in our Spiritual Lives, even if that means simply taking time away from the list of tasks in a day, and fitting in five minutes of quiet prayer, in order to reflect on where God is directing you today. Take the time today and look at areas where you can make improvements in your spiritual life.
Today's Gospel states:'When the days drew near for him to be received up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem. And he sent messengers ahead of him, who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him; but the people would not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw it, they said, "Lord, do you want us to bid fire come down from heaven and consume them?" But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village' (Luke 9:51-56).
Today's reading talks about how not all people will be acceptant of your faith. Some may even cast you out. If you don't give everything for your faith, they may even persuade you to give up. However, if we are strong and putting in the time and effort to work on ourselves each day, we won't be shaken. In a discussion with part of my class this week, I asked the students how they can try to be successful in their spiritual lives, and got so many blank stares. If we don't search for different ways to improve our spiritual lives, we get stuck in a loop and give up trying. God is calling us to keep working, keep trying and Continue Seeking Him in every area of our lives. Take some time today to pray and ask God to help you keep improving your spiritual life.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for helping me to see Your will for my life. Help me to continue seeking You in every area of my life.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
