Yearn for Heavenly Treasures

Do you have a yearning for money? People typically want what they don't have, sometimes for what they'll likely never have, Money being one of the key items on this list. We yearn for more so that we can have more, use more to support those we care about, to feel more free from the burdens of life and even to take greater comfort in living our lives. We take comfort in whether we have the right money or belongings, something seems to be out of place here, leading us in he wrong direction. God calls us to find comfort and seek joy in Him, in love. He gives us Jesus on the Cross so that we might find this love, find greater purpose and live a life based around more than just what we own. Doesn't that seem like something greater worth living for, more fulfilling?
Today's Gospel states:'"Do not lay up for yourselves Treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. "The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light; but if your eye is not sound, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!' (Matthew 6:19-23).
Today's reading talks about how we need to invest in Heavenly Treasures, and not that of earth. Heavenly treasures meaning not those things of earth, as we can't take them with us after death, and why would we want to? God shows us that we need to be wise and invest ourselves in things that really matter, in love, joy, lending a helping hand, being forgiving, being brothers and sisters in faith. Those are the things that truly matter, and if we can say that those are the priority, then we can take comfort that we're on the right track. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you invest yourself in heavenly treasures.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for showing me that money and earthly treasures are not important Lord. Help me to invest myself in things that really matter, especially when it comes to representing Your love.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
