Make the Time

Do you make adjustments to bring in your favourite Hobbies into your daily life, even when you're travelling, when life gets busy, when you are overly exhausted and worn to the bone? It could be getting up earlier to go for that daily morning run you love, even though you're in a new place, giving you a chance to explore your surroundings a bit. It could be squeezing in that bit of reading time while you have breakfast and slowly wake up in the morning. We make it work for the things we enjoy doing as our hobbies, but do we make thw same effort when it comes to our faith? If we can squeeze in that bit of television as background noise getting ready in the morning, it's very possible to instead take those minutes to say a silent prayer to God for the day ahead. If you can make that 7 am hockey practice on the weekend, I bet you can be ready to make mass at 11. Are we prioritizing our Faith above everything else we have going on?
Today's Gospel states:'And preach as you go, saying, `The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying, give without pay. Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your belts, no bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the laborer deserves his food. And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it, and stay with him until you depart. As you enter the house, salute it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you' (Matthew 10:7-13).
Today's reading talks about how we should go out in our mission to be disciples for the world. We must go bearing nothing, no burdens or extra baggage of things, and truly embrace a life of faith. Sometimes it's hard to determine where we need to make adjustments, in order to make faith a priority, but now is the perfect time to take a closer look. We all have areas we can improve, and if we can somehow squeeze in time for those other hobbies, it's definitely possible to work on building up our faith. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you prioritize your faith life.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being at the centre of my life at all times. Help me to make You a priority Lord, even more so than the other hobbies I enjoy.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
