Daily Bible Verse: Psalms 18:2

Daily Bible Verse: Psalms 18:2

When the Lord is your refuge, there is nothing you can’t do.

In Him, you can comfortably weather the storms of life.

Yes, the storms of life will seek you out, to test you, provoke you and cause you to wonder where God is.

Psalms 18:2 Is A Powerful Blessing Before The Storm

One of the secrets I learnt a long time ago is that I need to pray Psalms 18:2 even before the storms come, so that when they eventually sneak up on you, Psalms 18: 2 is immediately activated.

That way, the devil tries his best and sees no hole in the fence to manipulate.

Our challenge every day is to keep prayed up, fired up all the time.

The challenge for many of us is that we don’t cover ourselves upfront so the storms come and sweep us off our feet. And when they do, we leave ourselves exposed to the devil to come up set up shop in our lives and cause our lives to be one self-defeating cycle.

Thanks to Psalms 18: 2, we now know that we have a safe place, a protected place, a place of comfort, protection and company that no devil can penetrate.

6 Incredible Blessings in Psalms 18 Alone!

There are 6 incredible blessings tucked away in this one verse. Imagine how much firepower this gives you in prayer.

The 6 blessings are

  1. My Rock: Your unmovable foundation
  2. My Fortress: Your strong tower, your house that is built up on every side to keep invaders at bay.
  3. My Deliverer: To rescue us from any trap we may currently find ourselves in
  4. My Strength: When your strength is not enough, rely on God’s strength to take you through the storms of life.
  5. My Shield: A shield is a sign of honor. Your Sign of honor is the Lord. A shield deflects any attack or missile from you. He is your defense system.
  6. My Horn of salvation: In ancient times, the Israelites used the horn as a proclamation tool, a symbol of victory and instrument of triumph.

In every situation, you don’t need to rely on your strength, your intelligence or even your resources. God is you resource and he will come through for you.

Today, let’s celebrate the Lord of Psalms 18:2 and see the manifestation of this verse in our lives today.

With God by our side, there is nothing we can’t do, nothing we can’t achieve, no battle we can lose.

If you go through the rest of Psalms 18, the Psalmist gives you a glimpse of some really graphic terrible times he found himself in, where he had no choice but to rely on God for salvation. Now wonder he began the Psalm by saying

I will love you O Lord, my strength.

In fact, I’ll encourage you to go through the entire chapter today and see how many dangers God rescued David from that prompted him to write Psalms 18:2
