Vision

What Vision do you have for your life this year? Do you want to make a difference in your community, at work, or in the larger society? Do you want to impact the world?

Even though January is almost over, it is not too late to take time to decide the direction you want your life to take this year and how you plan to get there.

What do you see yourself accomplishing this year? Where do you want to be at the end of the next 12 months?

There is a song whose lyrics are:

See yourself in the future

You are royalty

It goes on to say:

You are an heir

Embrace your legacy

You have special gifts to bring to the world. Embrace your gifts. See yourself in the future using your gifts. It is never too late to do what you were born to do.

Now is a great time to set the vision for your life. Set aside time each day until your vision for the year is crystal clear. Or take a weekend to decide what you want to achieve in each area of your life.

I spent the first two weeks of this year deciding what I wanted the end of this year to look like for me. I saw the end before I went back to decide how to get there. You can do the same.

My goals are not only set on paper. Most importantly, they are set in my heart. I know what I have to do every day when I get up. Whether I do it or not is another story. But I know what it will take to get to where I want to go.

Retirement

You may say, “I don’t need a vision. I am retired. I have lived out my vision for my life.”

Wrong!

Without a vision, you might sit around and be lonely. With a vision for your retirement years, you can decide to go out and explore the world. Explore your city, your state, a foreign country. Meet new people. Volunteer.  Do you have a skill you can teach others? With a vision, your life is full.

Young Family

You may say, “I don’t need a vision. I have children to raise. I don’t have time for a vision for my life. I’m too tired.”

Wrong!

Set your vision to be a great mother, to raise kind, respectful, and compassionate children. Without a vision, one day you might throw your hands up and let your children go their own way. Besides, they have a mind of their own. With a vision, you can always pick up where you left off if you get tired.

Job – Too Busy

You might say, “I am busy carrying out my company’s vision. I don’t have time for my own vision.”

Wrong!

Do you want to be in your job forever? Do you have a special dream tucked away in your heart? If you long to do something else but can’t quit your job, take time each day to do something toward your greater dream. Even small steps add up. At the end of the year you will be surprised at how much progress you have made towards your dream.

If you are working at your dream company, do you want to move up? Is there a dream job there that you want? Then find out what it will take for you to get there and start the process.

Cast Your Vision

Don’t wander through life without a compass. Know where you want to go and plan how to get there.

We have all heard the saying,

“Man Plans, and God Laughs.”

Of course, life will throw you curveballs. If you take a break, get right back up as soon as possible and let your vision guide you onward until you accomplish what you set out to do.
