I said a thing and then immediately after the words came out of my mouth I realized it was not the smartest thing I have ever said but I still meant it!!!
Jason bought a Coconut the other day and saved it for me to try when I went over for dinner.
Now, I've had shredded coconut in treats and I've had coconut "milk" or "water" in containers (it wasn't very good) but I can't say I've ever had like coconut from real... from fresh? I guess unprocessed.
He used a Drill to drill two holes into the outer shell to then pour out the "water" and when he pulled out the drill bit there was a twist of coconut on it so I picked it up and ate it and yes my friends, the words that came out of my mouth before I could even think were "it tastes like coconut!"
Yes... thank you brain. The coconut Tasted like coconut. (Oh man)
Jason laughed and I felt like a dork but I think what I meant was that it tasted like the stuff I've used in baking.
Now, a bigger chunk of the flesh did not taste so "coconutty" to be fair, but the sliver did. And the "water" stuff tasted much nicer than the canned/boxed stuff, so there you go. I'm not sure I'd be willing to put in the effort to get them "peeled" or what have you like I do with pomegranate but it's cool that I got to try it "for real" and my brain was apparently very excited about it too.
