Video: Responding to PFF’s disrespectful ranking of Jared Goff

Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK

PFF’s ranking of Lions QB Jared Goff is downright disrespectful. Our own Meko and Morgan offer their rebuttal.

Since he arrived in Detroit back in 2021 via a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, Detroit Lions’ quarterback Jared Goff has won over many fans over the course of his first three years in the Motor City. Yes, even all of us here at Pride of Detroit.

For a while, a lot of us on staff were labeled as Goff “haters,” and even early on, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Speaking for myself, of course I wanted Goff to succeed here. It was the quickest path to glory for the likes of Lions coach Dan Campbell, general manager Brad Holmes, and the rest of the organization. However, throughout 2021 and even early in 2022—the path for Goff to find a home in Detroit felt like an arduous one.

Then, in the second-half of the 2022 regular season—Goff, along with the rest of the Lions team, began to find their way. I have said it many times both via article and video, but Goff has done what I felt like was nearly impossible if you would have asked me in the fall of 2022—he rekindled the play that made him a number one overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Nobody likes to be proven wrong, but in these instances—I love being wrong.

Goff went on to lead the Lions on a deep postseason run in 2023, inked a contract extension, and is poised to once again lead one of the better teams in the entire NFL.

All of that and he is still ranked 16th overall by Pro Football Focus? That’s right. PFF’s Trevor Sikkema put out a ranking of all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks in 2024, and Goff found him right smack dab in the middle of the list.

Myself and my good buddy Meko Scott break down the tiered-list created by Sikkema and where we would have quarterbacks placed if it were our list. Spoiler alert: we both believe Goff should be quite a bit higher than he is currently ranked by Sikkema.
