VIDEO: Lions rookie Terrion Arnold picks up his first INT of practice

Watch Detroit Lions rookie CB Terrion Arnold grab the first interception of his professional career.

Detroit Lions rookie minicamp continues through the weekend, and while media won’t be there to cover the final two practices, the Lions production crew is still on hand to capture big moments.

And on a cloudy Saturday, the Lions managed to capture a pretty significant moment: first-round cornerback Terrion Arnold picking up the first interception of his professional career. Check it out:

Lined up opposite minicamp tryout Kaden Davis—who spent time with the Broncos, Cardinals and Michigan Panthers over the past two seasons—Arnold initially falls behind a step after giving up inside leverage (for what it’s worth, Davis has 4.44 speed). But Arnold sticks with him, and when Davis turns upfield to find open space, Arnold closes in and locks him up.

Most importantly, he reads the receiver’s eyes. As soon as he sees Davis looking for the ball, Arnold turns his head to find it, too. He locates it, goes up with both hands, and wrestles it away from Davis for a pretty impressive interception. Is he helped by an underthrown ball? Sure. But in this short clip, Arnold showed a lot of the basic fundamentals and ball skills that caused the Lions to move up five spots to grab him in with the 24th overall pick.

Last year at Alabama, Arnold logged 12 passes defended and five interceptions—ranking second and first in the SEC in each respective category.

Hopefully this interception is just one of many to come at the professional level.
