Mandi Wright / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Lions are on the clock in our Community Mock Draft. Here are 12 candidates Detroit could pick.

This is it. The Detroit Lions are finally on the clock in our 2024 Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft. It’ll be up to Erik Schlitt to make the 29th overall pick in the draft.

Here’s a look at how the board has fallen through 28 picks.

  1. Chicago Bears: QB Caleb Williams
  2. Washington Commanders: QB Drake Maye
  3. New England Patriots: WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
  4. Arizona Cardinals: WR Rome Odunze
  5. Los Angeles chargers: OT Joe Alt
  6. New York Giants: QB Jayden Daniels
  7. Tennessee Titans: TE Brock Bowers
  8. Atlanta Falcons: EDGE Dallas Turner
  9. Chicago Bears: WR Malik Nabers
  10. New York Jets: OT Taliese Fuaga
  11. Minnesota Vikings: QB J.J. McCarthy
  12. Denver Broncos: CB Quinyon Mitchell
  13. Las Vegas Raiders: CB Terrion Arnold
  14. New Orleans Saints: OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu
  15. Indianapolis Colts: DB Cooper DeJean
  16. Seattle Seahawks: OL Troy Fautanu
  17. Jacksonville Jaguars: WR Adonai Mitchell
  18. Cincinnati Bengals: OT JC Latham
  19. Los Angeles Rams: EDGE Jared Verse
  20. Pittsburgh Steelers: OT Amarius Mims
  21. Miami Dolphins: DT Jer’Zhan Newton
  22. Philadelphia Eagles: EDGE Laiatu Latu
  23. Minnesota Vikings: RB Jaylen Wright
  24. Dallas Cowboys: iOL Jackson Powers-Johnson
  25. Green Bay Packers: CB Kool-Aid McKinstry
  26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: iOL Graham Barton
  27. Arizona Cardinals: DT Byron Murphy
  28. Buffalo Bills: WR Brian Thomas Jr.

With those 28 players off the board, the Lions are left with a difficult choice. Here’s a look at some remaining candidates that could be on Erik Schlitt’s radar for Detroit’s pick.

OT Tyler Guyton — Tackle is not a huge need, but Guyton has the athleticism and size to play either tackle position in the NFL.

OT Kingsley Suamataia — A cousin of Penei Sewell, Suamatai is more commonly viewed as a Day 2 pick, but it’s easy to see the Lions potentially falling in love with someone nearly as tenacious as Swell.

iOL Zach Frazier — A guard/center option who was recently mocked to the Lions by Peter Schrager, Frazier represents all things GRIT. This would spit in the face of positional value, which we know Brad Holmes has no problem doing.

iOL Cooper Beebe — Another solid character fit, and someone who can elevate Detroit’s run game after spending a year behind veterans Graham Glasgow and Kevin Zeitler.

WR Xavier Legette — Legette only has one year of solid college production, but he’s got a rare blend of size (6-foot-1) and speed (4.39 40-yard dash). He’s also a practice junkie and willing blocker, meaning he’ll fit perfectly in the Lions culture.

WR Keon Coleman — A bigger-bodied receiver but with far more college production than Legette. His speed is just average and his route running is raw, but he’s a highlight-reel machine with strong hands.

WR Ladd McConkey — Though typically left out of first-round conversations, McConkey is Dane Brugler’s WR5 and would make for an interesting fit in Detroit. Though only 5-foot-11, 186 pounds, McConkey is a polished route runner with both slot and outside receiver potential.

EDGE Chop Robinson — An athletic freak with the first-step explosiveness required to be an elite pass rusher, Chop Robinson is a tempting pick here. But he’s also very much a work in progress to become more technically savvy and well-rounded.

EDGE Darius Robinson — A perfect schematic and character fit, Robinson is a run blocker with some pass rushing upside. But does he offer that much more than Josh Paschal and John Cominsky?

CB Nate Wiggins — Tall (6-foot-1) and slim (173 pounds), Wiggins was a bit of a ballhawk at Clemson. With 25 passes defended and three interceptions in his past two seasons, Wiggins brings elite athleticism to a Lions secondary that is lacking pure speed (4.28 40-yard dash).

CB Ennis Rakestraw — Rakestraw fits the Aaron Glenn model of a small-but-fiesty defensive back. He doesn’t have the speed of Wiggins, but his tenacity and physical playing style will certainly turn heads in Detroit.

CB Mike Sainristil — The biggest question with Sainristil isn’t whether the Lions will like him. Dan Campbell will LOVE him. But can Sainristil compete on the outside, or would the Lions be fully happy adding another nickel to their secondary knowing that Brian Branch is likely headed for more safety reps.
