Turns out it was a Happy Thanksgiving after all.

It doesn’t take much to make a Detroit Lions fan hopeful (at least in the short term). After Week 11’s embarrassing shutout at the hands of the Carolina Panthers, Lions fan confidence had reached an all-time low. In our weekly Reacts survey, just two percent of Lions fans said they were confident in the direction the franchise were headed. We can only suspect that the two percent consists of exactly one Matt Patricia and one Bob Quinn.

But after the Thanksgiving meltdown and the subsequent decision from ownership to fire both the head coach and the general manager of the franchise, fan confidence is back, baby!

Just the mere firings from team owner Sheila Ford Hamp has jumped team confidence all the way up to 53 percent this week. When you consider that just a week ago—prior to the firings—only seven percent of Lions fans said they trusted Sheila Ford Hamp, I think it’s safe to say that number is higher now that she’s decided to end the “Quinntricia” era.

You’d have to imagine this level of confidence will likely hold until Ford Hamp makes some decisions on the vacant jobs. In the meantime, the Lions still have five games left on the schedule. And while the playoffs are still mathematically possible, I’m assuming most of the 53 percent of fans feeling good about the franchise aren’t dreaming of playoffs in 2020.

Speaking of the upcoming schedule, the Lions’ Week 13 opponent, the Chicago Bears, are experiencing a new low of their own. After Sunday night’s whipping at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, Bears fans have the second-lowest confidence in the entire NFL, with a mark of just six percent.
