The Lions’ top two draft picks are dealing with injuries.

The Detroit Lions took the pads off for Saturday’s Practice, their fifth of the week. However, even with the pads off, several players on the roster were unable to give it a full go. Head coach Matt Patricia said they wanted to up the tempo a bit more during practice without the pads, which likely led them to taking the precautionary route with some of the banged up players.

First and foremost, running backs Bo Scarbrough and D’Andre Swift were both completely held out of practice, including individual drills.

“Bo Scarbrough and (D’Andre) Swift will not be out at practice again,” Patricia said prior to practice. “Just feel that it’s not ready for the tempo of what we’re doing here today. Working with those guys, nothing really specific to report on the Injury itself or any of that, just kind of the rest as far as what we’re doing.”

With those two out, it was again Kerryon Johnson and Ty Johnson splitting reps with the first-team offense, while Jason Huntley, Jonathan Williams and Wes Hills all got a fair share of snaps, too.

For the second straight day, cornerback Desmond Trufant sat out of team drills. Perhaps more notably, however, first-round draft pick Jeff Okudah appeared to tweak something very early on in practice. While he tried to stay out there for individual drills, he was eventually held out of everything and stood on the sidelines for the rest of the day.

With those two out, it was Amani Oruwariye and Darryl Roberts as the starting outside cornerbacks with the first-team defense.

Additionally, rookie tight end Hunter Bryant suffered a lower body injury while running a nice route against Jalen Elliott. He limped off the field and did not return.

Elsewhere, wide receiver Victor Bolden spent another day mostly riding the exercise bike, Nick Bawden, Isaac Nauta and Beau Benzschawel remain held out of team drills. Marvin Hall, who left Friday’s practice with an injury, did not appear limited Saturday.

Here’s the full report from Saturday. (Note: there is no official report from the team)

RB Bo Scarbrough - OUT
RB D’Andre Swift - OUT
WR Victor Bolden - Solely with medical team
CB Desmond Trufant - No team drills
TE Isaac Nauta - No team drills
FB Nick Bawden - No team drills
C/G Beau Benzschawel - No team drills
