Former Lions head coach Jim Caldwell to do rare interview with Glover Quin

You can catch up with the former Lions coach at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday.

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with good ole Jim Caldwell.

The former Detroit Lions head coach briefly served as an advisor to the XFL following his firing in Detroit, then had to step away from football due to an unspecified health concern (though he remained a consultant for the Miami Dolphins in 2019).

And while Caldwell hasn’t been a complete stranger since his days in Detroit—he recently talked up Baker Mayfield on a Cleveland radio station and talked a little about what he’s up to with his hometown newspaper—his public interviews have been few and far between.

However, on Thursday night Lions fans will have the opportunity to see Caldwell in rare form: chatting it up with a former player of his—Glover Quin—in a very informal setting. Caldwell will be live on Quin’s YouTube channel “The DB Room” for what will likely be an in-depth interview about Caldwell’s life, legacy and maybe even his future.

If you’ve seen any of Quin’s interview shows, you know he likes to keep drama at the door. And if you know anything about Caldwell, he’s not exactly one to drag up controversies. So there’s no need to worry about the Lions being dragged through the mud.

Instead, the show should be an interesting, personal look into Caldwell as a person—something we didn’t really get much of during his four-year tenure as head coach of the Lions. Hopefully, we’ll get an update on his health situation, as well, and maybe even an interesting anecdote about his time in Detroit. If we’re really, really lucky, Quin will get a “check the report” out of him.

Caldwell is scheduled to join Quin at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday night on his YouTube channel.
