A couple player remain out of Detroit, but they are clearly getting healthier.

The Detroit Lions took the field for the first time out of the bye week as they prepare for Monday night’s big matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Because the schedule is pushed back a day for Monday’s game, there won’t be an injury report until Thursday this week. So here’s a recap of what we know based on the first 15 minutes of their initial practice this week.

Mike Daniels and Damon Harrison Sr. out

As head coach Matt Patricia indicated before Wednesday’s practice, Daniels remains out after suffering a foot injury in Week 3. At this point, it looks like he may be a longshot to play in his rematch game against the team that cut him a day before training camp this year.

It came as a surprise, however, that Snacks was not out there on the practice field, seeing as Patricia made no mention of it during his pre-practice press conference. It’s unclear if Harrison’s absence is excused or injury related at this point.

Da’Shawn Hand

For the first time since suffering his elbow injury in training camp, Hand looked to be a near-full participant at Wednesday’s practice. He was hitting the bags and sleds during individual drills, which he hadn’t done previously. He was still wearing a brace on that left arm, but he appears to be close to a return and could even possibly play this week.

T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson was in full helmet and pads during Wednesday’s practice, indicating he was in at least Step 4 of 5 in the concussion protocol. The offense didn’t go through any full-contact drills during the portion of practice open to the media, so it’s unclear if he’s been cleared for full contact. Either way, this appears to be a good sign that Hockenson is already close to playing again, despite suffering a scary concussion in Week 4.

Darius Slay

After missing Week 4’s game against the Chiefs with a hamstring injury, Slay looks primed to return against the Packers. He appeared to go through most positional drills during practice, including some contact drills with pads.

Quandre Diggs

Diggs left the Chiefs game with a hamstring injury of his own and did not return. While Diggs was out there for Wednesday’s practice, he didn’t appear to do as much, as noted by the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett:

Danny Amendola

Amendola was at practice and did not appear limited by the chest injury that held him out of Week 4’s contest. He appears on track to play after missing two of three practices in the lead up to the Chiefs game.
