The pride of Winnemucca has been cut for the third straight year.
The Detroit Lions only have 12 cuts to go. The latest player to be moved is Wide Receiver Jace Billingsley, per Eric Edholm.
Yes, it is this time of the year again. For the third consecutive season wide Receiver Jace Billingsley has failed to make the Detroit Lions final 53-man roster. The wideout is three years removed from the Lions grabbing him as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Oregon in 2016. He has spent most of the past two seasons on the team’s practice squad, though he did make a two-game cameo in 2017.

He has never recorded a single NFL reception, and while he does add value on special teams it is hard to justify him earning a spot in a crowded field of receivers. Billingsley did have a few bright moments this preseason but the experience and pedigree of TJ Jones above him on the depth chart meant that making the final roster was always going to be a tall task.
Billingsley still has a year remaining of practice squad eligibility. Detroit obviously loves keeping him around but it is unsure whether or not they want to roll the dice on him once again after two years of little impact while younger players will be available to stash away.
