This film breakdown of Ziggy’s week really highlights just how dominant he was.
- On Wednesday, the NFL named Ezekiel Ansah the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. On Thursday, SB Nation’s Stephen White named him the “Hoss of the Week.” Check out his excellent breakdown of Ansah’s spectacular Week 17 performance.
- The Detroit Lions broke attendance records in 2017, boosting overall attendance by 5.3 percent from last season. Additionally, three home games played in 2017 broke Ford Field’s top 10 most-attended games.
- Matt Prater was named to the Pro Football Focus All-Pro first team. Prater’s reaction to the news was classic:

- Dan Orlovsky gave his thoughts (The Athletic subscription required) on what Jim Caldwell did for the Lions and what the next coach will have to do. Here’s a teaser:
It’s not about finding a guy who can come in and reshape the culture. That’s been established.
Finding the right guy for any job is hard, finding the guy willing to grab the baton and finish a champion is even harder. And I fully believe Quinn will do just that.
- The snow storm on the east coast is already affecting some coaching searches. It could potentially cause the Lions to change plans with Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia (h/t @kmeinke) :
With airports closed and the snow a major issue, Giants brass likely to drive to NE for interview w/Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia

- Here’s a few different outlooks on Lions head coach candidate Mike Vrabel. First, Texans blog Battle Red Blog thinks the “leader of men” narrative is played out. However, MMQB’s Robert Klemko details how Vrabel’s coaching style gets the most out of his players.

- This isn’t Lions related, but it’s a really cool moment from Week 17 when Andy Dalton sent the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs with a fourth-and-12 dagger against the Baltimore Ravens. Watch the entire thing to see the Bills’ live reaction to the play from their locker room:
4th and 12, the @BuffaloBills and Baltimore Ravens #NFLPlayoffs hopes on the line.
