The Detroit Lions bested the New York Jets in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the 10-point margin shows.

The New York Jets are tanking and have one of the worst rosters the NFL has ever seen. That has been the narrative for much of this offseason and coming into this game, and the team did very little to assuage any of those concerns against the Detroit Lions. The Lions won by only 10 points, but it was not a close game. At the start of the fourth quarter, the Jets had yet to even threaten for points, so as you can imagine,there are plenty of guys whose arrows are pointing up this week. It isn’t everybody, though, so here’s your weekly Stock report for the Lions’ victory over the Jets.

Stock Up: Michael Roberts, TE

The mid-round rookie from Toledo has had a rough go to start his preseason. He was plagued with drops and ball security issues through camp and his first preseason contest against the Colts, but he’s started to turn it around. He was magnificent against the Jets, catching both of his targets for 29 yards including a beauty of a 22 yarder with plenty of YAC. His blocking was pretty stellar as well, showcasing power and technique that he’ll need to get actual game time this year.

Stock Down: Jake Rudock, QB

Rudock showed a good command of the offense, though he continues to rely almost exclusively on his check downs and short passes. What sets him on the downside this week is ball security, with a fumble and interception to his credit. Game manager types like Jake Rudock need to have control of the football at all times, your job is to keep from losing the game. It’s likely to be a focus for Rudock this week, but even though it’s a fatal issue to have, it’s correctable and not a huge concern yet.

Stock Up: Steve Longa, LB

One of the most interesting players on the roster, Steve Longa has been putting on a show on special teams for the Lions. He was fantastic in training camp’s controlled environment and was great against the Colts in the first preseason game. That continued against the Jets as he seems to always be around the ball for the coverage units. The reserve linebacker will need to do more on defense to justify keeping him on the roster, but he is doing a wonderful job of showing up to play on teams, and that can go a very long way to securing his 53-man spot.

Stock Down: Kenny Golladay, WR

To address the elephant in the room, Kenny Golladay did not play well. After lighting up the Colts, Golladay struggled to get open against the Jets reserves. The third rounder has been making waves all week building up to this game, but was mostly a let down when he got on the field. It’s hard to pinpoint the reason, exactly, but you tend to want more than a single catch for six yards from your high draft picks.

Stock Up: Marvin Jones, WR

Marvin Jones started the day with a drop that was nearly picked off. Like the one that was picked off last week, it was poorly thrown by Matthew Stafford and off target. After that, we got to watch the Detroit Lions new show, Marvin and Matthew, as they lit up the Jets woeful secondary. The stat line was only 4 for 34 and a TD, but that touchdown was a thing of beauty.

Stock Up: Akeem Spence, DT

Akeem Spence came in with a high price tag but low expectations. He played mediocre to poor as a 1T in Tampa Bay and there was no expectation of him succeeding as a 3T in Detroit. Against the Jets, Spence was a complete nightmare, just beating up on the Jets offensive linemen and cruising into the backfield. Even when the Jets tried to devote two blockers to him, Spence was undeterred. Spence was probably the best player on the field for both teams.

Jared Abbrederis, WR - Abbrederis came on late in the game to put in extra effort and pick up a first down that was otherwise short.
Ameer Abdullah, RB - Abdullah looks like he could be something special.
Jamal Agnew, CB - Agnew gave up a couple catches, but it wasn’t bad coverage. Later broke up an end zone pass, had a big hit in the run game.
Johnson Bademosi, CB - Bademosi looked back to form on special teams. 2016 wasn’t as great of a year as we like to think in that regard.
Alex Barrett, DE - Barrett got a ton of action and looked good in what he has gotten. Close to a roster lock at this point.
Jace Billingsley, WR - Jace had some pretty poor work on special teams early, but his work as a receiver with second team was fantastic, including a big YAC play.

Quandre Diggs, CB - Diggs came to play in this one and was phenomenal in the first few series. He even did good work on teams, an area of weakness for him.
DJ Hayden, CB - The team’s presumed starting nickel for Week 1, Hayden played well every time he saw the field against the Jets.
Nevin Lawson, CB - Your reminder that Lawson is very good, he was fabulous against the Jets including tipping a pass that Glover Quin ultimately dropped.
Jeremiah Ledbetter, DT - The team’s sixth-round pick has been fairly quiet, but made some nice plays late in this one.
Keshawn Martin, WR - Martin has not done much, but had a neat return late against the Jets.
Rolan Milligan, FS - Milligan had a neat pass breakup late in the game, a near pick, and the final pick of the game. Way to go out.
Michael Rector, WR - Rector did nothing to prove himself in the preseason contest, but with Noel Thomas and Dontez Ford both sidelined, it means more time for Rector.
A’Shawn Robinson, DT - Still good, still improving.
Dez Stewart, WR - Stewart is new to the team, but made a nice special teams play when playing as a gunner, getting in the returner’s face to help with the fumble.

Travis Swanson, OC - Swanson was the best offensive lineman on the field for both teams in this match up. Only a few mistakes.
Robert Tonyan, TE - Tonyan has been quiet this offseason, but made a good heads up play jumping on the fumble on special teams.
Cornelius Washington, DE - Started the game off with an unblocked sack/fumble, played okay after that.
Dwayne Washington, RB - Washington was okay as a runner, but showed better receiving than we’ve seen so far.
Zach Zenner, RB - Zenner wasn’t great as a runner on his four carries, but his blocking was far improved over last week’s game. Even helped open a Washington run lined up as a FB.
Anthony Zettel, DE - Zettel has continued to look good. Here’s to hoping he continues to continue to improve.

Thurston Armbrister, LB - I was recently reminded that he’s still on the team. I had forgotten weeks ago.
Matt Asiata, RB - Asiata was the least effective back on the field as a runner and took snaps deep into the fourth quarter.
Armonty Bryant, DE - Bryant only played later in the game and wasn’t effective when he did.
Alex Carter, SS - Carter had a real opportunity to make a disruptive play on a blitz, but he tripped and missed his chance.
Joe Dahl, OG - Dahl looked terrible last week and didn’t look much better against the Jets.
Graham Glasgow, OG - Glasgow was bad again.

Brad Kaaya, QB - Kaaya wasn’t accurate and couldn’t find much of a rhythm.
Leo Koloamatangi, OC - The Lions seem like they’re gearing LK for the practice squad, so he’s out of roster consideration. Also, announcers called him “Kala-mung-tung.”
Cyrus Kouandjio, OT - Firmly out of starting consideration, Kouandjio was not great against the Jets backups and added in a penalty for good measure.
T.J. Lang, OG - Lang wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t as good as he’ll need to be. He missed several key blocks in the game including one near the goal line.
Storm Norton, OT - Norton was a hot mess against the Jets, a far cry from his promising start to training camp.
Pat O’Connor, DE - I’m not going to ding him for looking bad when dropped into coverage, but O’Connor was easily the least effective rusher against NY.
Glover Quin, FS - You may have deduced that I don’t like dropped picks. Quin is great, but he dropped one of the easiest chances for a pick he’ll ever have.
Greg Robinson, OT - Robinson was fine on most moments where he just squared up and blocked. Ask him to move his feet and it was a mess, defenders abused him.
Teez Tabor, CB - Tabor only allowed one catch, but he was beaten several times where the QB just didn’t throw that way. Still coming along, but not as good as last week.

Josh Thornton, CB - Thornton was getting a bit grabby and gave up some late in the game. He also isn’t getting snaps until very late in the game.
Rick Wagner, OT - Like Lang, Wagner has pretty high expectations. He played well for much of the game, but his whiffs were of the awful variety.
Antwione Williams, LB - Williams still struggles in coverage and he overran a route that he ultimately didn’t even try to jump. Needs work there.
Tim Wright, TE - Tim Wright has yet to do anything of note. Not a good sign for his roster chances.
