This Post is intended to be neither wise nor insightful, instead the hope is to be a little amusing with a sightly wry note (and just a hint of profundity).
The inventor of the rubber Balloon, (the most common balloon) was Michael Faraday in 1824, via experiments with various gases.
間 ‘the space within’
We put thirty spokes together and call it a wheel;
But it is on the space where there is nothing that the usefulness of the wheel depends.
We turn clay to make a vessel;
But it is on the space where there is nothing that the usefulness of the vessel depends.
We pierce doors and windows to make a house;
And it is on these spaces where there is nothing that the usefulness of the house depends.
Therefore just as we take advantage of what is, we should recognize the usefulness of what is not.
Holy shit! Yes, you really are reading a Post that is submitted as an entry to a Contest that is defined as ‘..a Post-writing Contest with the phrase ‘a Dead Balloon is a dead balloon’ in the Title, otherwise the Post can be on any topic or explore any subject, no limits on length or brevity’.
OK….and yet, you are still staring at a Post that has:
- a totally fabricated ‘old saying’ ( the thing about …in the minds of )
- a Wikipedia* definition of balloons
- a Chinese ideogram that is being presented as the ‘word’ for ‘the space within’
- * yeah, clarks react to Wikipedia the way that scotts react to ‘totally, guaranteed consequence-less sex’ and rogers respond to “just a small group of you friends and co-workers would like to present you with an award, that is, if you don’t mind”
- what I am afraid is a photo of Michael Faraday ( being a clark, we won’t go totally out on the limb and do anything more than post the photo and know that it has a connection)…somewhere…we really hope
But maybe that is an answer.
It is said that clarks are always relating to the world in terms of ‘why’ and ‘to what end’, and it is also totally true that clarks view the world ( and the people and everything else) as being ‘there’, while they (the clark) are ‘here’.
A ‘dead balloon’ is to a ‘live ballon’ as clarks are to scotts and rogers.…this is not a negative, deprecatory characterization.
The world, as experienced by scotts and rogers is a place of action and interrelations; the world for most people is ‘give and take’, all experienced in real-time… ‘I touch you and you sigh’… ‘I hear your voice and feel hungry’ you know, the world of Life**.
In this context of this discussion, while technically, the opposite of life may be death, here we are using the word ‘death’ to try and imply that context that permits life to exist….the space within and between
… clarks experience the world/Life from the perspective of (that) space within, but all too often we do so with our eyes/ears closed.
we encounter people, we feel the brush of emotions as we glance off a person’s death we even change the paths of the lives of the people in this space, that clarks exist in…but we have our eyes closed.
