A love that never dies

Tags: love twoyear

Demon craved for blood, a thud and ashes fly,
kill for the cause, is what we humans try,
tears welling down, silence on the streets,
A child left orphaned, the father’s under sheets.

Low the flag as they lower the casket in the soil,
pungent whiff of tribulations feeding turmoil.
We cover our nose and blind our eyes,
give our obligatory condolence to muffle the cries.

We rejoice in safety, as a vermilion veil turns white
Accolades to the fallen flooding twitter, trite.
Bullet shots reverberate; pounding head,
two-year awaits the one who is already dead.

An emptied locker, heritage sold
“the office is closed today come later”, she is told
a bounced cheque tucked with due bills in the file
she smiles reminiscing of the times, she walked the aisle

The two-year old has now come of age,
Stiff shoulders, head held high; up he goes the stage
the green, red and gold on the chest you cannot buy
stands tall a soldier with the love for nation that never dies.
