Plentyfull – new diner at Millenia Walk

Adding to the ample dining options in Millenia Walk is Plentyfull, a new eatery with the philosophy of cooking with fresh ingredients sourced directly from the farmers. It offers seasonally‐changing menus. Plentyfull at Millenia Walk caters to the office crowd by serving cafeteria style light meals, as well as cakes and coffee, in the day. At night it is a full service restaurant and bar.

Plentyfull at Millenia Walk is also a grocer. It has a retail section where you can pick up fresh fruits, snacks and beverages. It also has a counter where you can buy coffee and cakes to take-away.

The dining area is spacious. The modern industrial decor is softened by strategically placed plants. It has an open concept kitchen. The long cafeteria style counter also serves as a bar. There are booth seats, long communal tables and regular dining tables of various sizes. On the whole, the place looks quite attractive and welcoming.

The items on the menu of Plentyfull will change from time to time. Here are pictures of the current menu board and set menu for lunch.

The dinner menu is slightly more extensive than the lunch menu, but not by much. The main pages of the current dinner menu are below.

We visited Plentyfull at Millenia Walk for dinner on a weekday evening. There were not that many patrons and we could choose where we wanted to sit. We ordered their Flatbread ($10), Miso Aubergine($18) and Thai Roasted Chicken ($26). Service Charge would be added to the bill but there was no GST.

The 3 pieces of Flatbread did not look very flat but they did taste like freshly made bread. The bread was served with nori buter and a concoction of elderflower caramel and olive oil. We liked the butter with seaweed. It went very well with the bread. The elderflower caramel was sweetish. Mixing it with olive oil was unusual but it was interesting and a nice change from the more common vinegar and olive oil.

The Miso Aubergine was a fusion of French and Japanese cooking. A slice of eggplant was cooked au gratin with miso and sprinkled with spice mix. There was a thin crispy outer layer. The inside was very soft and creamy; almost drinkable like a thick soup. We liked the taste and texture of the gratinated eggplant but thought the touch of miso was too light.

Plentyfull says they use fresh ingredients. Maybe for the Thai Roasted Chicken dish, they used only fresh young chicks – because the chicken thighs looked very small to us. It was not a case of small but beautiful either. The chicken was dry it did not look good and the taste was very average.

Fortunately, our dinner ended on a sweet note with a slice of Tiramisu cake ($10). The alcoholic content of the tiramisu at Plentyfull was really high. $10 for tiramisu might seem a bit expensive but think of it as $10 for a piece of cake and a shot of liqueur and it might seem like a bargain.

Plentyfull has potential. We like the feel and look of the place and the service was earnest and friendly. The menu was limited and there were hits and misses in the food we tried. We thought the pricing was on the high side. We left Plentyfull feeling lighter – partly due to the alcohol in the tiramisu and partly because our wallets were lighter.
