Georges Beach Club @ East Coast Park

Beach clubs are trendy and popular in tropical Asia. They are usually stylish restaurants bars located near to the sea serving interesting cocktails and playing great music. Georges Beach Club @ East Coast Park is near the sea and has booze and music but it is not quite like the beach clubs you will encounter in Bali or Phuket. Georges is a beach club Singapore style. It has something for everybody – it is a family restaurant and sports bar. It has an outdoor children’s play area and a pool table indoors. It can be a venue for a rowdy bachelor’s party or a toddler’s birthday party. You can have drinks there till past midnight or have  breakfasts there during weekends.

Georges Beach Club @ East Coast Park is located in Area C of East Coast Park near Raintree Cove. There are outdoor seating areas which should be very nice on a cool evening.

The indoor air-conditioned space is quite large. There is a bar, an electronic dart machine, a pool table, wall mounted big screen TVs and a stage for live performances.

Georges Beach Club has an extensive range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Specialty beers, cocktails, shooters, slammers, wines and ciders as well as coolers, milk and hot chocolate are available.

On its food menu are the usual bar food like nachos, chicken wings and calamari rings as well as mains like pork ribs, steaks, pasta, burgers and fish. For breakfasts, they serve Western staples like pancakes, bacon & eggs and big breakfast but lasi lemak is also available.

We went there for lunch on a very hot afternoon and was glad that the air-conditioner was working as it should. We ordered a honey lemon drink ($7.90), the Grilled Pork Chop ($16.90) and the beef lasagne ($15.90). The drink was served within a few minutes while the wait for the pork chop was about 15 minutes. The lasagne came a bit later.

The freshly made honey lemon drink was really cold and refreshing – something healthy and enjoyable during the hot spell in Singapore.

The grilled pork chop was served with mashed potatoes and some vegetables. The portion was generous with 2 rather large cuts of bone-in pork. The grilled pork chop looked pale and quite uninteresting. It did not taste very exciting either. The dominating taste, in a good way, was that of the Worcestershire sauce drizzled over the pork chop.

The beef lasagne was a better dish. It was quite well made and not too heavy. The meat content was a bit low but on the whole the lasagne was not bad.

The food at Georges is not gourmet stuff but it is more than acceptable if your main objective is to have drinks and food is just incidental or you just want a hearty meal after a day of exertion in East Coast Park.

Georges Beach Club’s tagline is “Good Food. Great Music. Mad People”. We did not encounter any mad people there. The food we tried was not bad. We can say that the music played over the good sound system was great. We should go back to Georges Beach Club in the evenings, when there are live performances by artistes and bands.
