We had visited Spize Rifle Range and thought that it was a big and beautiful place. Spize Siglap is not as big as Spize Rifle Range but it is still quite spacious and an inviting eatery.  The bar and floor tiles would look familiar. Colourful wall murals add an element of fun to the place and make the dining space more attractive.

Spize Siglap has a menu which offers local dishes as well as Asian and Western food items.  The prices also seem quite reasonable.

We placed our order for two food items – Nasi Goreng Ayam Kunyit ($9.80) and Mee Goreng Mamak ($8.50). We also had kopi tarek ($3 each). GST and service charge would be added to the bill.

The wait for the food was not long. Water was served while we waited. The food arrived nicely presented. The portions were quite generous.

Nasi Goreng Ayam Kunyit (or Fried Rice with Turmeric Chicken) came with several pieces of turmeric marinated chicken, a generous helping of mixed vegetables and some sambal chilli. The chciken was mildly aromatic tickled the tastebuds. The under-rated Malay dish was tasty and enjoyable.

Spizer Siglap estaurant’s Mee Goreng Mamak (or Indian Fried Noodles) was one of the prettiest version of the dish we ever seen. The Indian Muslim style mee goreng with chilli and tomato sauce had the usual ingredients of tahu, potatoes and vegetables. The fried noodles dish was not bad but we thought that after a while the spiciness started to overwhelm.

The kopi tarek or traditional pulled coffee was delicious. It was fragrant and creamy. We liked the fact that we could specify the level of sweetness.

Overall, we had a simple but very pleasant dinner at Spize Siglap restaurant. It is a beautiful restaurant with friendly and cheerful service staff. There is a good variety of food on its menu and the prices are very reasonable.
