New PS Cafe Fullerton – big and bright cafe with a view of MBS

PS Cafe Fullerton is the newest PS Cafe to open in Singapore. It is the seventh and the largest PS Cafe in Singapore. They have certainly come a long way since their early days when the cafe took up just a corner of the Project Shop. We always look forward to new PS Cafe openings not because of the food (as they tend to serve similar types of food), but because of their impressive interior designs. In terms of decor, we think that PS Cafe Fullerton takes the cake. We take you on a tour of the biggest and latest PS Cafe before we show you what we had for lunch .

PS Cafe Fullerton is located in One Fullerton. This is the building by the sea next to the Merlion.  It is across the road from the Fullerton Hotel. There is an underground tunnel linking the two Fullerton buildings.  PS Cafe is on level two. A recessed entrance adds to the drama as visitors cannot see the main areas of PS Cafe Fullerton before they reach the bar counter. Their trademark diagonally-hung magazines were present as were the lush foliage in glass vases. But they seem to have done away with the folding metal gate for hanging the magazines.

Turn left at the bar counter and a display of wines and spirits comes into view.  A lounge area is around the corner.

We think the best seating options are the alcoves in this area. It is also the least congested area. The private dining room at PS Cafe Fullerton is a lovely place to host a small birthday celebration.

Those who like a view of MBS and the seafront will have to find a spot at the main dining area. Here,  there are conventional dining tables. There is a small non-airconditioned area (above).

PS Cafe Fullerton Menu

Here are some pictures of the PS Cafe Fullerton Menu (lunch).

The Bianca Funghi pizza was beautifully presented with finely grated cheese on top. It was a very light and thin pizza. It was enjoyable but we wished that the mushroom flavours were stronger.

The Chargrilled Chunky Prawn sandwich ($27) was the best dish of the day. I can’t remember the ingredients that went into the sandwich other than the chopped vegetables and prawns but they all combined really well.  Definitely something we will order again at our next visit.

The Moules Vin Blanc ($26) was good except for one thing. The mussels were very skinny. Here is a picture of one of the few meaty ones. Other than that, the gravy was superb – white wine sauce with a hint of tom yum. A cup of crusty dipping bread was provided.

Before ordering dessert, do remember that some of the cakes like the Double Chocolate Blackout Cake ($16) are served in huge slices. It was double the size of a regular slice of cake. Thank goodness it was moist and not too heavy. A good choice for chocolate monsters.

The Golden Banana Butterscotch Cake ($13) was not as huge as its chocolate friend but still substantial. This was a rich banana flavoured cake, made even better with the butterscotch sauce. Each of these slices of cake can easily be shared by two or three people.

Overall, the new PS Cafe Fullerton is an impressive place. We believe it takes over the space formerly occupied by UsQuBa Grill & Whisky Bar and has transformed it into the fresh contemporary look that we identify with PS Cafe Singapore. PS Cafe Fullerton has only opened for less than a week without fanfare. Yet there was a steady stream of visitors checking out the new cafe. It is a good idea to make a reservation if you are thinking of visiting during peak hours.
