Family-run restaurant Haveli The Yard on Upper Maudlin Street has launched an exciting new brunch and Lunch Menu, inspired by the owner’s family legacy and travels around India.

The restaurant, which offers an authentic twist on popular Indian cuisine, is owned by Amir Farooq – whose grandparents were behind Bristol favourite, The Rajpoot. Since opening in 2021, Haveli The Yard has built a strong reputation for high-quality, family-friendly dining…and their new brunch and lunch Menu sounds incredible.

Drawing inspiration from all over India, it showcases a range of classic Indian Brunch dishes. These include their Egg Dosa (a dosa packed with lightly-spiced scrambled eggs), and the Vada Sambur – a popular South Asian doughnut-shaped lentil fritter, served with tomato chutney and coconut chutney.

Owner Amir says, “Being British born, I often forgot about my culture, but when my family and I moved to South Asia when I was a teenager I totally fell back in love with everything from the food and drink to the amazing atmosphere of family-run, local restaurants, and this became the inspiration for Haveli.

“As well as showcasing some of the classic dishes that our customers might be familiar with, we wanted to introduce people to some of the more unusual regional dishes that they might not have discovered before, including some of the dishes we’ve really fallen in love with from our travels and from the heritage of our team.

“We also wanted to create a menu which was easy and convenient for those working in the local area, especially the NHS workers at the BRI, where they can enjoy great food with their NHS discount that’s quick and delicious.”
