It is a small, pleasant shop with an open doorway and smells of freshly baked sweet breads wafting into the street.
We had never seen the shop until today and asked the owner how long she had been open. Just three weeks and everything, she assured us, was made with her own hands.
The interior is simple, scrupulously clean, with several small tables. The daily menu is printed on the wall outside the shop and on a chalkboard behind the counter.
The bakery menu offers a small variety of cupcakes, muffins and sweet rolls accompanied by a variety of drinks, including coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate and soft drinks. You can have coffee and a muffin at one of the tables inside, or order to take with you.
We ordered sweet rolls and orange muffins, para llevar (to take). The owner packaged our order in a box, tied with a black string while we perused the handmade candles that were also offered for sale. When it was time to take our money, she put on rubber gloves.
When we finally opened the box at home to sample the baked goods, they were still fresh. The muffins were tender and not too sweet, exactly the way I like them. The sweet rolls were also light and tender, but unless you like your sweet rolls with an explosion of sweetness, order them without the frosting and nuts.
Our Recommendation ***
This is a very nice addition to the shops in Ajijic, a place where you can stop in for muffin and coffee if you don't feel like having a full breakfast or can pick up some baked goods to take home. The owner is pleasant and eager to please and is especially careful about presentation and cleanliness.

We happened upon Dulce Alfajor Artisan Bakery as we were walking from the Wednesday tiangus (open air market) to the plaza, along Calle Constitucion.It is a small, pleasant shop with an open doorway and smells of freshly baked sweet breads wafting into the street.
