Indoor air quality dust monitor
- A tabletop Dust Monitor to show the ambient value of PM2.5 (in μg/m³)
- Displays current values, averaged values and % of clean air
- Quantifies the PM level as GOOD, NORMAL, POOR and ALARM (as per ratings)
- A reliable tool to check the quality and functionality of air purifier operation in a room
- Elegant display, designed to operate for 24×7
- Monitor has the capability to display PM2.5 (particulate matter) readings
- Needs no maintenance and no installation procedure, just plug and start using
- Type of sensor used: Optical
- Operating voltage: 12VDC (110-22VDC to 12VDC adapter provided alongwith)
- Accuracy level: ± 10 %
- Typically used for indoor purpose, (but can also be equipped for outdoor installations)
Technical Document
Video demonstrationDust quality monitor does the quantitative particle quantity measurement with the principle or optical sensor particle density counting. FBXDQM (FORBIX SEMICON Dust Quality Monitor), is capable of giving an indication of pollution and air dust particle level in your room. It can measure dust particles of approximate 2.5 micron.
With the use of FORBIX SEMICON Dust Monitor, user can check the appropriate functionality of an air purifier (from any brand). The pollution level indication can be monitored with appropriate indicators in the monitor.
Dimensions of the monitor: 160mm x 100mm x 30mm
LCD dimensions: 70mm x 55mm
We produce 2 varieties of dust monitors:
FBXDQMG: shows current and averaged PM2.5 level in μg/m³, along with air quality in % in lemon green display
FBXDQMW: shows current and averaged PM2.5 level in μg/m³, along with air quality in % in bluish white display

Air Quality Index (bar indicator on left bottom) | Density values (µg/m³) |
Good (air quality is healthy) | Below 100 |
Normal (air purifier is preferable. Causes health hazard if exposed for prolonged duration) | 100 – 400 |
Poor (definitely needs air check) | 400 – 800 |
ALARM (smoky air, not fit for more than 10-15 minutes) | Above 800 (upto 1400) |
Clean homes are incomplete without a Dust Particle Counter. This equipment measures the count of dust an pollen grains in house. Now you can check yourself, how clean is your room.
Purpose and application of the monitor:
FORBIX SEMICON air quality dust monitor for PM2.5 is a less accurate device (compared to LASER monitoring device). But it is very helpful to see the present air condition range. An accurate number may not be important for a residential customer. Rather it is important to see the drop in PM values after the use of an air purifier in a room. This monitor serves the purpose for the same. Example if the actual value of the PM in a room is say from 148-160 μg/m³, this dust monitor may show the value between 135-170 μg/m³. But it would be clearly visible that after the use the air purifier the values will drop to 30-50 μg/m³. This is the main purpose of the monitor.
Applications of dust monitor: (dust quality monitoring for):
- Air cleaner or air purifier
- Air conditioner
- Hospitals, offices, schools etc.
- Ventilators or clean room etc.
Following are the particle sizes (in μm) commonly seen indoors:
Particle Content Particle Size (in µm)
Hair 50 – 150 µm
Visible 50 µm
Flu virus 0.07 µm
Pollen 7 – 100 µm
Sneeze particles 10 – 300 µm
Dust 0.1 – 100 µm
Bacteria 1.0 – 10 µm
Disclaimer: FBXDQM dust quality monitor is a tool NOT to check to accurate levels of dust particles. Rather it is a quantitative measurement that indicates the overall breathing quality of air. The level indication of showing POOR or ALARM means the ambient air is polluted and needs fresh air flow.
