You can now drag and drop one or multiple files from the operating system into the VS Code’s File Explorer.

You can also copy and Paste the files even though the Paste option seems to be disabled when you right-click inside the File Explorer.
The Paste option is disabled when trying to Paste Files into the File Explorer
Pressing CTRL + V should do the trick.
