How to change Item attribute from non Controlled to Serial Controlled with qty on hand
We have to start tracking items as Serial controlled. The items are defined as non-controlled at this moment, and they have existing quantity on hand. Does anybody knows the most appropriate way to do this? Any practical advice?
Answer:
Make sure there are no reservations, pending transactions, open move
order lines, txn interface errors
Misc. issue out existing onhand.
Change the attribute
Misc. receive the onhand and enter the serial number
We have to keep in mind that if you use install base, you may get errors when
looking at old data. There is no way out of that.
