Microsoft Endpoint Manager 2112 – December 2021 Updates

The December version of Microsoft Endpoint Manager 2112 is released with two new exciting features. First, you can use filters in enrolment restrictions to get granular control of devices like personal devices. It can reduce your efforts in managing devices while reducing licensing costs from unnecessary app deployments.

Furthermore, Microsoft is updating Administrative Template XML-Based (ADMX) ingestion capabilities while supporting new settings to Microsoft Edge 97 to improve user experience. You can even automate the process to keep all management software settings up to date.

So, let us have a thorough look at both these two features in detail and how they can be helpful for your organisation?

  • Filters in Device Enrolment Restrictions

As you know, people are moving towards home and hybrid working environments, which has raised the demand for personal devices, which is also known as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). For instance, let us say you use Windows Home OS on your device, but your company’s default is Windows Pro.

In general, the tactical solution of BYOD allows you to bridge the gap between your requirements; it also increases the volume of devices to be managed while increasing potential threat surfaces. Earlier, people were developing manual workarounds, making endpoint management complex. However, you can simplify IT (Information Technology) workloads with filters in enrolment restrictions and keep experiences as straightforward as possible.

Filters in endpoint management allow you to quickly move from the use cases to other scenarios, such as restricting a particular iOS app to only iPad users in the finance group.

  • Administrative Template XML-Based (ADMX) Ingestion

ADMX Ingestion has been updated with new capabilities and setting for Microsoft Edge build 97. It helps you ensure that settings are up-to-date across all the devices and managed software. Earlier, individuals need to download the latest settings from a Microsoft download site via an Administrative Template XML-based file (ADMX). And then install the file directly to a domain controller to deploy to Windows endpoints via Group Policy Object that needs to be connected to the domain.

With the ADMX feature in Microsoft Endpoint Manager, it will be easier for you while expanding your reach to remote and hybrid workers. Besides, Microsoft will keep ingesting new settings from Office 365, Microsoft Edge, OneDrive, or other Microsoft products to make them easily accessible in the cloud and Endpoint Manager.

These two new features in Microsoft Endpoint Manager will improve user experience in multiple ways while providing them with ultimate ways to manage their software.
